Cleveland is bad as you'd expect although there are nice suburbs.If you're worried about snow, this area is worse than Montana. Lake effect snow makes some of these towns have higher snowfall than places in the rockies. Stay away from youngstown. The countryside can be pretty nice outside of there. You'll run into Amish in alot of places. Meth heads too tho.

Going to other states (especially Louisiana) is kind of a culture shock after growing up here. Amazing to see how dirty and stupid the average people are elsewhere. A lot of companies will adjust compensation for being based in Midwest lower because the cost of living is lower than the coasts. I’d probably pick Arkansas or something though personally and still argue for $200k. I’m at $130k remote but my mortgage payment is like $1250/month and I have 20 acres with fiber internet and I’m only 25 minutes from the hustle and bustle should I want to grab some dinner at a nice place. so relative wealth and all that. Downtown Minneapolis really isn’t as bad as it used to be and I never feel unsafe. I still take my wife and kids to plays and other shows at the local theaters. Never have had a time where I felt unsafe in the last 3-4 years. Some 1st ring suburbs are pretty rough but there’s no reason to go there anyway
