Tractors and industrial equipment are one of the things that reveal how much inflation and enshitification have wrecked the economy. Where heavy machinery is considered an investment they are still built out of thicker metals that resist wear, rust resistant alloys and durable or easily replicable standardized party's. They cost 50k to 250K dollars in todays money. Your grandfather used to be able to buy a truck or station wagon that was built to the same standards as professional equipment for about $2000 dollars in the 19503
tractors used to be smaller and less complicated, but still you're right it's a more faithful indicator than most thingst. still have my grandpa's tractor and my great grandpa's bernard engine
>>523943125I know they have gotten bigger, with more hydraulics and computers linked up the whole fearm, but still a huge chunk of the cost is farmers and excavators expect an engine block that can be rebuilt and a frame that can be sandblasted an repainted. A non disposable, non enshitified vehicle would cost what a tractor cost
>>523943125I own a Ford 8N that still runs 70 years after it was built and its about the size of a yuro hatchback and its about as complicated as a hard boiled egg. That being said it wouldn't be worth a fuck on anything larger than a handful of acres or more complicated than maybe plowing. >>523943319Any engine can be rebuilt and any frame can be repainted, anon. Something like replaceable sleeves for cylinders is a different story and should absolutely be a thing on a quarter million dollar machine. Stop buying Deere and maybe they'll eventually start to listen.
