There’s no real difference between socialism and taxing the rich, other than matter of degree. Taxing the rich at 50% is effectively the same as seizing 50% of the means of production. I guess you could make an argument that markets still function in said scenario and price discovery/economics-calculation still occurs, but the market is heavily distorted.
Trickle down didn't work. There's nothing to support. No one is "turning on it". It's just a bad policy.
