They put on the graphics, red arrows going up, experts nodding, very solemn faces, and suddenly it’s real because they said it on television.And I tell you, what’s really happening, and nobody wants to say this, is it’s a story about confusion, about the internet, about people online saying wild things and the press running with it, because chaos gets ratings, Fox talks about it one way, CNN another way, everybody’s yelling, nobody’s listening. They don’t tell you it’s mostly noise, memes, trolls, shock value, they just say it’s a movement, a narrative, a moment, and they act shocked, absolutely shocked, even though they helped build it. Very sad, very dishonest, but very believable if you’re watching at home, late at night, thinking wow, what is this country coming to.
