We have high rent prices because governments require licenses and permits to build homes, which they need to issue, and they ultimately have the guns to enforce this.

Anyone who is not aware of that, such as people who think it's about "muh capitalism" or "muh gorillion empty homes" is hopeless and most importantly DESERVES TO BE POOR.

Why is no one doing anything about it? I get that democracy is take, but the state ultimately tends to actually respond to people's opinions if they're too overwhelmingly against something. Is it because we're arguing with each other as some people are opposed to economics? At this point I'm willing to team up with the left and support their solution of price controls, just to make it worse and put fire under the government's ass to solve the actual problem. I don't care about tribalism anymore.

Sometimes I wonder if the real reason this problem is stagnant is actually that people who are most affected by it are more likely to lack mental acuity, and it actually takes a few mental associations to trace cause to consequence in this case. This is bleak but I think it may be that.
