>when you grow up Jewish, the idea of giving things to the needy without any thought of yourself is absurd

Macy's is just moving their Santa. They're literally moving from SF, literally the major city with the lowest percentage of children, to a nationwide tour of Santas.
They're actually expanding the tradition.

what is truly absurd is how jews insist that hannaka be acknowledged and celebrated alongside christmas because it takes place in the same month. Hannaka is the celebration of a fake military victory that began as a campagin of terror started by hebrew zealots who targeted their fellow jews in order to deprive them of their goods and lives so that they could fund an insurgency against the rightful rulers of their country. The reason jews teach children about the dradel during this time is because jewish bandits would hide out in caves and gamble with one another to pass the time.

It would be like having a holiday where everyone larps as an outlaw and to tie it all together you teach the kids how to gamble with dice so they can have something to do while hiding out from the law.
