I hope everyone here understands that this homeless tipster does not exist. The feds were desperate for an answer and could not find the guy. They used certain military resources in order to identify him, which is a violation of Posse Comitatus. They invented this homeless person in order to allow for plausible reverse construction.

The fundamental story about "John" makes no sense. He seems to have made up his mind to tell Reddit about what he saw instead of the feds and, so the official narrative goes, the denizens of Reddit somehow changed his mind and got him to send in a tip. If such a thing had happened, wouldn't it have been far more likely that self-righteous Redditors wouls have been the ones to send in the tip hoping that they could get the reward?

Doesn't this kind of narrative sound an awful lot like CCP narratives in which people are praised for turning in people suspected of being opponents of the Communist Party?

I know from experience that they do not track down tipsters and they do everything they can to avoid paying out rewards.

The story serves the double purpose of brainwashing the public into believing that the government is taking care of the homeless and convincing you, the reader, that you have a shot at getting rich if only you happen to be an eyewitness to a murder.

That is what happened. The bum didn't report it, he only came forward after authorities released a picture of him. The dumb bastard supposedly followed the guy around because he was suspicious, but didn't bother calling the cops before or after the shooting. He did feel compelled to post on redd!t though.

Kind of retarded, and you might be right overall, but that detail was incorrect.
