Everything is twice as expensive as last year. I can't afford to go to the doctor. I can't even afford a downpayment for a new car let alone fix my car. How do you guys do it?

rent has to be charged and rent has to rise. the cost of taxes, maintenance and insurance for the landlord all rise with real inflation, and the landlord's profit is the rent minus all those costs

and so passing the burden of that inflation to the tenant class, the rams of Babylon, is why people say it is better to own. renting is a kind of debt peonage and a kind of watered down slavery. its a thin slavery because you have the right to say no to the transaction, but it's slavery all the same. no matter how long you pay the landlord, you will never acquire anything except the obligation to keep paying others

is rent theft? this depends on the frame and the idea that we make it:
>No
is that youre free to go live in the woods and starve to death if you really dont like working. and so yes its theft, but the alternative is the raw elements steal even more from you. and so the lesser theft is more comfortable than the greater theft. this is the default of existence

three men on a deserted island will die if they dont work every day which means in regards to the simulation of the universe, life itself is a theft from the simulation, or conversely, the simulation steals free labor from life in exchange for survival

as a member of the owner class i reap the money fountain that spills forth according to my will. if you wish to stand on my Earth, then you must tithe unto me a quantity of money every time window.

you will pay me simply to exist

I don't. I haven't been to the doctor in decades. I haven't had health insurance since leave my parents plan when I turned 24 or 26? I'm in my mid thirties now.

I started to save last year and had about 6k in savings, but I recently became unemployed and i'm blowing through it at a rapid rate. the good news is i don't have any debt. the bad news is i will never own a home.

Well, I live with my parents, only paying utilities and property taxes. I eat a can of tuna and an apple a day, sometimes some peanut butter. Runs me roughly 65 dollars a month plus the utility bills, water, about 120 every other month... Electric say 190 a month tops, internet 90, garbage... not sure, not too much. It's all on auto pay. I only earn about 2300 currently as a full-time student, but I am making it work. Even got about 10k in savings.

All you need to do, brother, is be the no lifer they say you are. I mean, I do absolutely nothing but school, browse 4chan, read books, go for a walk... It can be done. It's not exciting. I just need to keep it up for another couple years and maybe I will earn enough to pay for something I like.... not sure what though. I don't really want to buy anything. No point in life as far as I can tell.

Honestly, because I make nearly $200k, paid off my house and vehicles, have zero debt, and my wife cooks everything at home. The only traveling I do is for work, and it's often international and I can bring my family on the company dime.
Some of my coworkers complain, but people are so fucking retarded they can't manage on a high salary. I think most people have never experienced true hardship like I have. I was raised in the US and am White, but my life experience has been really rough and probably only one step above child soldier in Africa.
I legitimately don't feel like I'm in a recession because I live like this. I don't even notice prices as it has virtually no impact on my life. Get hard or perish faggots.

Going through some tough times do make you better at coping and just being more responsible with finances etc. If you are white at least.
>>
>>524062450
I can't say too much because it's niche and there is less than 100 people in the US that do it at my level, probably like 10 under 50, but it's a form of tech and manufacturing related.
That being said, I know tradies pulling down more than me. It's literally just what you put into it and how you manage the returns.

I'd only gone to urgent care for acute injuries. Last time was two years ago.
The worst part is emergency departments are always half full of people with colds, coughs, and other bullshit that are not an emergencies.
Reagan signed a bill that will provide emergency care no questions asked and people won't why hospital stays are so expensive. Politicians don't seem to care about repealing the law either.

I once knew a pastor who was part of the 'Quiverfull' movement. The dude didn't earn more than 50k off of the tiny congregation, and he had 12 kids. You should have seen his home operation. It was like a barracks. Sacks of provisions everywhere, home canned all kinds of shit. It's amazing what people can do sometimes.

I make around $75,000 a year and my wife makes around $40,000. Not bringing in the big bucks by any stretch.

We have a three teenagers, a house, three vehicles, take vacations, go to concerts and to the movies all the time. We juice our 401ks to the max and have other nest-egg type savings. We buy groceries just fine and go out to eat a couple of tines a week.

Sure, some stuff has gone up, but jeez...is it that fucking hard?
>>

Good advice. I'll keep that in mind if I ever make it into an industry. Sounds like you're in energy. Currently working on a Masters in Accounting. Also a infantry vet, but I missed your tours by a few years, and didn't do much. Was homeless after service, too. Good to know some of us are going places.
>>
>>524060133
Having good roommates helps a lot. Having a job that's close by also helps a lot, there are people driving two hours to work everyday which is expensive in money and time. Having an older car also helps a lot, parts are cheap and if you have tools you can fix it without having to spend a lot. Get a deep freezer or two and only buy food that's on sale, you'll accumulate a lot over time. Look for deals on used items people are selling, you can usually get a good amount of decent stuff for your money.

That's like $100 max, assuming you over pay for the partridge and the tree, you can realistically get both for $20 each. I'm talking a 3 year old pear tree and an egg laying partridge.

Dumbass. All you needed was the GI bill to pay for ANY degree based career. I work with tons of dudes out of the military who were active during the GWOT. They got their shit totally together and we’re able to get advanced degrees with the GI bill.

Why the fuck did you go into manual labor AFTER serving?!? Did you get in on waiver?

Work three jobs and family has disabilities - get some assistance. Also we grow a huge garden with small livestock. Build everything possible out of what we have on-site: tools, furniture, etc. Save scraps and leftovers to process further. It's old-fashioned living.

Cost of living numbers use substitutions. If you ate steak everyday, it is a reasonable substitution to eat hamburger without a cost of living increase, thanks to hamburger being the same cost as steak 5 years ago. Now that ground beef is $9 per pound, people turn to pork. And when pork is $10 per pound, people will turn to bugs... all without an official cost of living increase. Aren't government number coverups fun?

I pay for my own food and other stuff. It's not that expensive if you shop around and don't need to have the latest thing.

If legislation can push rent prices down ut can do the same for insurance. Or just dont buy it; you can sue your tenants if they destroy the place
