While Releasing 'Avatar 3', James Cameron Questions the Future of Movies

"If I get to do another Avatar film, it'll be because the business model still works," James Cameron tells CNN in a video interview — adding "That I can't guarantee, as I sit here today. That'll play out over the next month, really." He says theatre is a "sacred space," and while it will never go away, "I think that it could fall below a threshhold where the kinds of movies that I like to make and that I like to see... won't be sustainable, they won't be economically viable. And that can happen. We're very close to that right now."

"This can be the last one. There's only one [unanswered question] in the story. We may find that the release of Avatar 3 proves how diminished the cinematic experience is these days, or we may find it proves the case that it's as strong as it ever was — but only for certain types of films. It's a coin toss right now. We won't know until the middle of January."

I ask something that might sound odd: What do you want to happen? But Cameron gets the implication. "That's an interesting question," he says. "I feel I'm at a bit of a crossroads. Do I want it to be a wild success — which almost compels me to continue and make two more Avatar movies? Or do I want it to fail just enough that I can justify doing somethingelse...?"

"What won't happen is, I won't go down the rabbit hole of exclusively making only Avatar for multiple years. I'm going to figure out another way that involves more collaboration.

>coming this Christmas to a theatre near you
Boner soup

Hollywood did a lot of demand destruction of audiences by focusing exclusively on trying to push unpopular politics.

I'd generally agree with Cameron. I think blockbuster movies will largely pass away and the cinemas that survive will be the ones that transition to arthouse movies made on small budgets - kind of the same way live theater has survived.

It's a small market but there are people who not only want challenging movies to watch, they would also like a quiet, dark place to watch them in where they can't pull out their phone or go to the kitchen for a snack.

Who the fuck pays for movies?
Every single movie can be watched for free on a big screen tv, in the privacy of your own home, with your own food and snacks, with no nigger babble in the background.

Why the fuck would anyone not just pirate movies?

Avatar 2 was CGI vomit I can only imagine how bad 3 is. Avatar is a pajeet/chinese series anyway. The reason the model isn't working is because Hollywood forgot how to make movies that appeal to people. You know with all this CGI they haven't attempted to do any historical battles? The best we got was fucking lord of the rings. Which is appropriate, because it marks the high water mark of the entire industry

James Cameron is an insufferable prick

Or you know, just don’t watch movies and shows at all. This guy is croaking fines and jail time so he can watch Gilmore Girls reruns. You would think that would get you a fan letter from the Cast. Instead it gets you a letter from Sony lookin for Okane
>>
>>524073634
>Fines
Lmao that doesnt happen you fear mongerer, whats next I might get a virus?
>You wouldnt download a car
I absolutely would. I pirate every single piece of media I consume and have for decades.
>>
>>524073984
You are a virus
>>
>>524074408
Lol.
Im still gonna keep pirating everything.
Not sure why your mad about it unless the "just dont watch" was an anti piracy gambit instead of an anti jewish media post.

Video games or VR interactive movies like a wannabe holodeck from star trek while traditional acting will just be stage plays like ancient greece

That or streaming corps keeps churning out a new shitty movie every week until eternity "Today there is 100 new releases"
>>
Lol. You can make a movie with AI for 50 bucks.

It’s over. It would be fun to make one, but it’s like why bother. It’ll be almost like music now. Just too much out there to even bother trying to wade through.
>>
>>524075293
I’m not mad. I’m just saying if I had to do a crime to consume media I just wouldn’t consume any media that’s not offered for free. Think I don’t want a paid subscription to Bill O Reilly? It’s not in my budget

AI porn will be the artistic apex of filmmaking. That’ll never get old for teenage boys. It’ll probably veer off in increasingly weird directions.

I’m old enough to recall a time when ‘Furries’ or ‘Bronies’ didn’t exist… at least at a level where they had the numbers to organize conventions.

He legitmately sounds a little spooked and despondent. I mean this was the guy who looked all the doubters and naysayers in the eye at the front row of the Oscars and told him he was the king of the world by taking home a record 11 awards for one film, matched only by Return of the King years later. He then fucks off from Hollywood for 10 years to hang out at the ottom of the cocean because he literally showed everyone else how it was done,it was time for someone else to take up the mantle. And for a decade, no one did. No one came lose to what he did. So he had to come back to Hollywood and do it again and he did it with his Avatar movies by pushing tech so far that its literally going to change how movies are to be made from now on.
When he started, you had to go out to locations and physically shoot the movie, if you wanted to see it on film, you had to do it practicallly. Even consuming the movie has changed, because you had to go out to a video store to rent or wait for it on TV. The commercial tech ahs gotten tot the point where I can get cinema quality experiences in the comfort of my own home and the culture and demographics have changed to where certain theatres are unbearable with others. And with the proliferation of AI and the quality we're seeing almost daily with the amazing improvements, Jim is smart enough to see the writing on the wall of where things are beginning to head. The age of the blockbuster is fading, not just because of lack of demand but because of economic viablity and severe lack (or purging) of creativity, and technological advancements including video games and now of course, AI.

I really hope he finishes his last two films. Cause it almost sounds like he's not looking forward to fucking off back to the ocean.

Hollywood is dead. They have absolutely no chance to survive. They are already giga-obsolete all thanks to a technology that is still in it's infancy at version 0.01.

>>
if he doesn't finish what he started, he'll be seen as a failure
>>
>>524076868
He's right though. The industry in which he works is quite literally about to disappear right out from under him. 2026 is going to be 100 times the AI-induced layoffs we saw in 2025.
>>
>>524077088
then this is his opportunity to be the one who presents the grand finale to film and theater
>>
>>524077754
>the grand finale
All spectacle. No soul. Shiny but hollow as everything meaningful has been devoured. It's nothing more than an epitaph for the entire post wwii kike world order. Hollywood was a pillar of their control and it falls as they fall.
>>
the only good movie I've seen recently is Frankenstein.
and even there they had to insert a line
>you hate me and my mother because we have dark eyes
>>
>>524078638
Reflection in a Dead Diamond is the only thing released this year that's worth watching.
>>
>>524077088
Nahhhh they could release the unedited footage that was cut out of Eyes Wide Shut and we’d all be standing in line to watch it tomorrow. I’d even buy popcorn. I wonder how they would even try to fudge the box office numbers if every single one of us went and saw it
