Because he praises the woman and still helps her, because she showed true faith. Jewish exclusivity like the Pharisees preached and believed wanted nothing to do with Gentiles, unless they converted to Judaism. Jesus didn't ask her of that. In fact, Jesus's whole Messianic status was a complete 180 of what the Jews thought was their Messiah. Instead of this powerhouse who would vindicate them and slaughter their enemies, He was a humble servant who allowed Himself to be put to death for all our sakes. Why do you think the Talmud and the Pharisees seethed at Jesus at all?
