Obviously one can build a rocket, thing goes up, thing goes down. Ballistics. But the narrative behind space going rocketry is that the device would be able to reach a speed high enough to accelerate faster than it can be dragged down by gravity, which seems insane if you think about it. Gravity can keep mountains and oceans on the ground but a comparable small human made metal tube can escape the Earth's gravity? It just reeks of psy-op.
