Modern medicine doesn't function nearly as well as the public is led to believe.
The situation is so messed up that literal woke-tier mental gymnastics and consensus-delusion now form part of western treatment protocols. It's fucked up on multiple levels.

Examples:
- Covid pandemic: WHO's first priority is to censor the internet as their way to produce "medical consensus".
- Cancer treatment: patients trust their lives to oncologists in the hope of having their lives saved. Oncologists reframe the problem, and coach the patient on their expectations, such that a FATAL outcome becomes a satisfactory treatment result (picrel).

One angle of this is that they've simply short-circuited good outcomes (the whole point of their existence) out of their regimen.
Historically:
> cure patients --> earn authority and respect
Now it's more like:
> Produce poor outcomes --> pretend they are good outcomes --> eliminate threats to respected status
