No reason you couldn't build a small truck with a modern 4-6 cylinder engine and meet emission requirements.The real reason is.... BOOMERS. Boomers love their $85,000 lot queens. They paid off their houses so now they want their ultra fancy, 2 story tall trucks. Makes them feel like a big mam again. And the manufacturer's make bank off them.Shame. We could really use some small affordable trucks again. Boomers won't let us. Even these survivor S-10's sell for like $10,000 as "collectors" now. What a nightmare.

>>524100664It has nothing to do with overall efficiency, and everything to do with efficiency/weight. So yes, with a tiny 4 cylinder engine that thing isn't melting glaciers. But its the heaviest 4 cylinder on the road, so it doesn't meet the efficiency standards for its weight class. The CAFE standards incentivize them to make very heavy vehicles to avoid the strict standards on lighter vehicles. It is peak Obama retardation.
