Democratic-Republican ideas became co-equal with their religious beliefs after that for most of our history. However different we may all be from our ancestors, generational beliefs are difficult to shake and even when you manage to you feel guilty about it in some way forever.Another facet of that is that Americans (by this I mean White, Old Stock Americans - and there's more than you might think but some of them don't even know they are, speaking as a genealogist) have never really had or needed to maintain a staunch, complex racial identity. Every White person in North America was almost entirely from the same European stock. It was obvious who was and wasn't White. Even so, Americanism just never really developed a strong racial component because they didn't need to. It's not like Europe where you have centuries of alternating cooperation and wars with different White "ethnic" groups that helps solidify a solid idea of what is and isn't xyz Nationality. So that's another obstacle.>TL;DRContemporary Americans are not early 20th century Europeans and never will be in our lifetimes so this is why there are no fascist movements in the US.
