Also, it is extremely lucrative to spin the controversy into free publicity for selling "alternative medicine", so this extremely dangerous fraud trailblazer has made bank and paved a path for even more frauds. The worst part is that some half-educated people will assert that the problems in science aren't caused by pseuds, frauds, and special interests, but entire industries and professions.The most important part of fixing this problem is clearly defining it. We have to remove paid interests. We have to quit letting authors say "the authors of this study declare no bias". We have to fund good science. Our public institutions have to keep up with our industries' private research institutions. And most importantly of all, we need to educate people about academic literacy. This has to be taught in public schools because we can't expect everyone to know how to navigate this kind of situation.

It can be difficult to determine how much hormonal-driven development is caused by the mother's hormones vs the child's. Even if you grant that being gay is caused by environmental factors, they would still be wrong about people not being "born gay" and whether it is a choice. At least, that is what current research suggests. Even more importantly, they speak with a level of credulity that betrays the science they speak for.
