If you're asking why the Philippines is an impoverished hell hole, that only exports people (i.e. labor and sex). Most Filipinos will say it's because of government corruption, and the Filipino-chinese solely enriching themselves. Both are true, but it's not the real problem. The true problem is the Philippines never industrialized, their economy is reliant on resource extraction, similar to Indonesia and African countries. The Philippines is rich in natural resources and fertile land. It has plenty of rubber, yet they've never built a tire industry, unlike its SEA neighbors (e.g. Malaysia, Thailand).They have steel, materials, and skilled labor to build ships, yet they have no noteworthy ship building companies. The same thing with automobiles.
