For some reason the FCC just banned all FPV and drone tech not made in the US. That's strange, because it's mostly generic micro controllers like the STM32F405, running free (as in freedom) software, cheaply assembled onto boards with other chips by third-worlders. Of course, you can't have that in the land of freedom, even though the individual components like the F405 are of course still legal. Also, on a completely unrelated note. Donald Jr. is heavily invested in Unusual Machines and Redcat, companies that produce this exact stuff in the US (using the same generic components from China), but not as cheap. Boy am I ever glad to not live in a country so openly corrupt.
>>524178552what happens if they sell the chips marketed as a "gameboy" clone inside a fake gameboy case? or somehting like that? i have build some drones and it looks like generic chips nothing special that can pass as anything. esc are more obvious but still its not some advanced tech they can do it in usa easily charging x5 of course
>>524178552>Unusual Machines and Redcatyou dont need extremely complex machines to do that, thing is that shenzang do it extremely efficienly because they have the entire industry in a single city already established. burguers will have that replicated in some years , its not that bad , i fear more about legislation limiting drone usage being enacted wordwide
as far as consumer drones go, the united states doesn't produce anything on the same level as a dji drone. as far as ease of use, features, image quality, etc, at a price that isnt cheap but is affordable, nothing comes close.
>>524178552Yeah, Don Jr got a board appointment to the same company awarded a priority design-deliver contract. No bid, flash tender. >>524179567There are many ways to bypass the gay bans through loopholes. Same with easy to machine parts for uppers and lowers. Literal percentages. Fuck that Anduril fag. There's drone breadtubers who guide you on how to do this.
>>524179762its not the dji ban this is a new set of prohibitions about generic drone parts and the aviation asociation that controls everything that flies in usa
>>524178552It sounds like this new ban is targeting premium premade drones like DJI but does it also cover kids toys and DIY racing quadcopters? I doubt either of those were ever FCC approved.
>>524179668Notice all the wireless mic jewtubers are now using, RODE. Overnight, a couple of weeks ago, lots of them switched from DJI to RODE. These glowniggers have no shame.
>>524178552>Boy am I ever glad to not live in a country so openly corrupt.>German flagYou forgot your VPN you fucking kike. This was in the pipeline since obama, and Trump undid it, and then Biden pushed it again, and now Trump will undo it
>>524179854>>524179959>>524178552Samefag. Why would someone arguing in good faith need to switch IPs, bump their own thread while pretending to feign agreement with OP, which is the self?
>>524179869well i assume it also applies to dji, which is almost the only drones worth buying. though if you want an fpv drone and don't need the fancy dji sensors and autopilot there are other options, which are also from china and now presumably banned as well.go fly a kite i guess
>>524178552>Boy am I ever glad to not live in a country so openly corrupt.based, so much base, basedest of the bases. updooted and gem encrustedenjoy the (You) kind Anon
>>524178552isnt all non DJI fpv self made anyway?
>>524180130LOLLLLL PSYOPPER CAUGHT.Fuck off shill.
Bump. Thread explores the link between profit and legislation by lawmakers/officials
>>524180130Here's your (you)>>524179918>I doubt either of those were ever FCC approved. They were not. However, the FCC, for reasons currently unknown, still explicitly bans parts for these drones.
>>524178552Another Hail Mary from the MIC realizing how fucked they are after three decades of flooding the country with the electronic slop of our primary geopolitical enemy. They keep getting these things spying on military bases and other sensitive areas and don't have the countermeasures to stop them.
>>524178552Very based. Fuck foreigners. Buy American.
>>524178552Theyre afraid p3ople are goig to start adding bombs to drones and fpv killing politicians.Rightfully so as they know its deserved.Building a drone is easy. Building a lethal payload is also easy. And theres little way to trace such a device after detonation. Sure you could figure out the engine type and shit but theres millions out there.TLDR kikes afraid of being made example of via beyond line of sight RC
>>524179959No, they're all using DJI still.
>>524178552German talking about>openly corruptthere is no rival in the world to the corruption of this German bitch
>>524178552The FCC is pretty weird about Chinese drones considering the CCP likely has unfettered access to DJIs cloud storage. This is probably just another move to harm DJI. I don't expect it will impact the actual micro controllers for DIY FPV drones.
>>524189594I am going going to buy anything made by Pedos.
>>524178552>doing the purge thing againWW3 isn't it?
>>524178552Is it really that easy to make a DYI drone? I mean from an RF perspective, you possibly need to integrate a 5G transceiver inside the drone MCU in order to practically have a multi-km range in a city. WiFi are useless unless the city you're in is covered by open WiFi everywhere, and even that might not be enough for a flying drone.
>>524178552Drones are gay as fuck
>>524198880I don't know enough about it but I would assume that they used drones launched from a very short distance from the targets (~1-5 km). I would assume also that they used ad-hoc RF transceivers with enough power outside the normal 2.4/5GHz commercial ranges to evade ambient noise signals and jamming.Doing this for a cheap/small DIY drone in an urban area with lots of multipath interference is just impractical beyond a 1-2 km. You either use ad-hoc or WiFi and both are too weak and useless for beyond line of sight.
>>524192717This would be the case if they banned all drone components, but it reads to me more like they're banning Chinese drone components ahead of WW3 so that they don't run the risk of their less-vetted new drone defense companies sourcing their parts from the Chinese, making a backdoor into the drones of the US army.
>>524178552You forgot your vpnAlso you'll never be white.
>>524178552>For some reason the FCC just banned all FPV and drone tech not made in the US.>For some reasonYeah definitely not because Trump's son bought majority share of Unusual Machines.
>>524198976Drones are badass as a weapon. Look at the terrible carnage theyve cause against people in ukraine. Imagine doing that to corrupt politicians? Theyd get the message real fucking quick.
>>524199708Yeah surely can control the drone via an internet connection from anywhere in the world and the latency would be somewhat acceptable (i.e. ~500-1000 ms taking into account the RF latency), but the RF transceiver of the done controller has to be a 1-5 km at worst case scenario away from the target. In fact I would assume the controller was just a few hundreds of meters away from the target. But if they really used shitty commercial WiFi modules in these drones I would be surprised. Do the Russians really leave these expensive planes without even jamming the area within the commercial 2.4/5GHz ranges?
>>524197137diy drones are pretty easy, the flight controller is pretty simple and can run on pretty much anything programmable. what's a little more complex (specialized chips/boards) is motor power control. you'd be surprised at the range of control links, the limiting factor is usually video and even then you can go pretty far as long as it's line-of-sight. I haven't played with drones in a while, when I did the VTX was mostly analog though I think many switched to digital more recently but still over a regular rf link.anyways I doubt they will succeed in banning all chink drone components for the average american. chinks will just relabel them, hobby shops will buy stock and sell them as intended. prices will go up a bit since they will need to obtain and relabel inventory instead of drop shipping. as another poster said this seems more to bolster domestic drone mfg probably for military purposes.
>>524178552#1 they are worried about backdoors#2 they want it made in the western nations.
>>524199493OR, hear me out, OR maybe Trumps son is making money from this. Just like how his son-in-law used the government fellate Saudi Arabia to score billion dollar apartment complex contracts once they left office.
>>524200386Having a reliable wireless connection, even beyond light of sight and with multipath interference, with high data rate and low latency is extremely, extremely hard. The only advanced widely available system that can do it right now is 5G. Even modern WiFi is practically useless if you want to go beyond 1 km, especially in an urban area.
>>524178552Because they are excellent assassination tools.
>>524200584Using the area's 4G/5G directly is possible but most military facilities usually design the cellular stations so as to send their power away from them or just jam them if they can't control the stations power directions. 4G is also not that good if you want to connect a station to a flying done even at a relatively low altitude. 5G is much better but still not that optimal for the flying drone use cases.
>>524200611well yeah no shit, I'm just speaking from a hobbyist perspective. most people I know that fly drones as a hobby are fine with line of sight. as I said the control link is way more solid than video (lower bandwidth, better propagation), and if hobbyists lose video they simply switch on the GPS return home feature. even non hobbyists ie people doing aerial photography still mostly keep line of sight since the air above a property you're photographing is open. if you need non-LOS at range as a civilian then I agree cellular is probably one of your few options, that or some kind of repeater/multisite receiver setup, or simply a heavier drone with a beefier vtx. the control link has much better propagation and fewer requirements.military I can only speculate but besides fiber optic or cellular as you say, they might try doing some spread-spectrum shenanigans to be more resistant to jamming, quieter on the rf spectrum, and higher bandwidth. I also don't think video is a hard requirement in that space, I would think if the drone can reach a coordinate then it can automate deployment of its munition against targets in that area.
>>524200763actually this is, but the ways of the ninja have been lost
>>524201749spread spectrum can only help against primitive, not advanced, jamming but it's nowadays used to help against interference from other sources using the same frequency, which is very common in 2.4/5GHz. But it won't help trying to go for long ranges or beyond line of sight especially in urban areas with lots of buildings and walls and all other devices re-using the same frequencies. What I am trying to say is that developing a DIY drone using available commercial components to kill somebody in your city is just not as easy as it sounds, unless that somebody is 10s or 100s of meters away from you.
>>524178552kek i saw this too. anyways, dont care, ill break the law and import illegal shit. fuck this judeo-indian nigger country up its retarded ass.
>>524200169yeah drones are so effective that ukraine has been in a fucking standstill for almost 4 years nowseriously how do you fall for the drone meme? retarded or glowie?
>>524202566No seriously my previous question re: practical experience stands.EE sophomore talk only gets you that far. It is nice you are fascinated by the topic though.
Just bought 15 shares of rcat, you better not have lied to me OP.
>>524202863flight controllers and power electronics are easy. the hard part is designing the goggles: 5.8 ghz RF circuits and whatever software runs on their FPGAs for real time image processing with minimal latency.
>>524203235Everything you need has already been invented and is sold by the chinese for peanuts. Order it to an Amazon locker in Canada or something then bring it back home in your pocket.
>>524202863I am really interested because I've thought about why there isn't a state actor or some terrorist organization doing some major terror attack on a city using thousands of cheap drones at the same time. It's not impossible but it's not that easy to do. I think that 5G is the closest infrastructure to make that happen but it's still far from optimal. However 5G is actually scary because it can be used to carry out attacks using UAV drones on the ground (e.g. delivery drones) from afar over the internet.
>>524203350all of the good goggles are still expensive, $500-700.
There are two shiddy shiddy weapons of sneed war. The drone and the disposable cretin and when you add them together>POO + DRONE they become highly effective. In the first week in Iran the most effective attacks against Iran were made from within Iran by drones. Every single person arrested as fifth columnists inside ad hoc drone factories and operating drones was a poo. It was about day 5 or something and 100 to 170 poo’s had been caught, reports announced. >Poo+>drone=>poodronePoodrones are shiddy, shiddy disposable can openers. >>524194629Smells a bit like Russian projection. >>524195856They are a very industrious people. Pic related. >>524199493Shut up poo. You plop dropper. You can’t fight your way out of a wet paper bag so forget “world war” you infinitely disposable nurk.
>>524178552I don't really know the nuances of this, but here is my first hand experience;I drive a poweregg x. Has a weatherproof optional shell and pontoon add on so you can land on water. Very good quality, good tech support and reasonable prices for replacement parts. [I hadn't secured a battery cover and a bird pf prey attacked the drone and knocked the panel off]I was able to use the gps recording to retrace my steps and find the cover. And it got me to thinking how much telemetry they actually had. Then I thought about the brief period where I had to install an .apk that was temporarily unavailable from the app store when I wanted to install it on an older phone.Previous administrations were corrupt and sold our secrets to the Chinese. Remember Feng Feng? I don't think protectionism is corruption; nations have always favored their local manufacturing base - up until the globalists decided that the entire planet should be one corporation owned by them.So I tend to disagree with your premise but would entertain further discourse.
>>524203446>I've thought about why there isn't a state actor or some terrorist organization doing some major terror attack on a cityHave you seen any other sorts of attacks of this scale in an urban area anywhere in the world?Get real already, anywhere you can facetime your mom you can fly a suicide drone as well. The tech has been there for a couple of decades now. You don't need your zoomer 5g shit for it.>>524203510Once US companies gain a monopoly on those domestically, they'll sell the same stuff for $5000-7000 + tip.Unlike the drones, goggles are a one-time purchase.
>>524201749 Maintaining LOS is the only way to operate legally, btw, unless you get a special FAR license.
The reason is obvious, drones are weapons now.The usa wants to heavily restrict what drones citizens can have.Limiting to easily jammed small weak ones that cannot carry payload, with backdoors government can tap into. With some partial exceptions for registered tracked ones.As the primary consumer in the world they also want to limit demand that builds up the advancement of foriegn drones. China became the best consumer drone manufacturer because it was selling to the US market and rapidly advancing its product.
>>524203811btw it seems that there are already commercial kits in the US market that have 4G/5G/WiFi at ~$1000https://www.modalai.com/products/voxl-2?variant=39914779836467
>>524200169The endless war politicians like Lindsay Graham certainly have it coming.
>>524182355There are lots of other drone manufacturers, including ones who make FPV drones out of the box. They generally aren't as refined as DJI, which took a big lead around eight or ten years ago and has never stopped improving.
>>524204995Just use a cheapie cellphone and "tether" your Ardupilot to it. No need to spend a grand on a "kit" with a "16 core AI processor" and all that sheeeeeeit. Of course there's a tiny weight penalty, but for the ~$800 in savings you can buy a lot of larger-sized batteries.
what drone should I buy on aliexpress?
I'm still flying drones like it's 2019. no registration, no remote id, chink parts, and I also drop lit firecrackers from it. Hopefully this will make chinese parts even cheaper and I can add a few more quads to my fleet for cheap
>>524206848Yes.
>>524206869>Drop lit firecrackers from it.Howabout you drop lit bombs onto the govt with it.
>>524206899nigger just give me a reference. i aint got not time to be reading the entire thread. drones are gonna get shoa'ed. just gimme a reference so I can buy one before the hallofcost
>>524178552>oi! You got a loicence for that drone m8!?Oh how the turn tables have turned
>>524178552Theyre going to ban these, or require a licenseTheyre afraid of them being used against them
>>524207678How theyre not being used already is beyond me.
>>524207260There are too many different use cases to just recommend one. Do you want fixed-wing or multicopter? Do you want FPV and personal direct control of it or are you going to stick an Ardupilot into it and run Mission Planner? You want big or small? Do you want a camera? Do you need a gimbal to control the camera? How big of a camera? You might need anything from a CineWhoop to a Baba Yaga or a Parrot to a Bobr to a fucking Cessna. And that's before you even get into budgetary issues.
>>524178552Good luck enforcing that :)
