The CIA spooks are entertaining but rarely right on anything. I was in the Army and MacGregor is right about a lot of shit regarding the state of the military, but it falls on deaf ears. He recently said that someone pulled him aside after a briefing and told him “the brass doesn’t care about you giving valuable information, you just need to be likable, you need to sell them that you’re their friend. Everything else is second.” To which he replied “yeah, but I need to give an accurate briefing.” To which the guy said “that’s not how it works.” He’s absolutely right, it’s even worse now than when MacGregor was in. If you’re an officer or even an NCO they don’t care if you’re actually good at your job, you just have to show up and not rock the boat, which is sinking. In fact you can’t even say that the boat is sinking. It’s basically just a bunch of people that haven’t matured past high school that have been given access to multi-million dollar equipment. The U.S. military is in no position to just steamroll a near-peer military and it’s probably not even really ready to go to war with a country like Venezuela.
