Interestingly enough, the notes in the Scofield make no commentary on the passages that contradict the system. I was raised in it and it took me decades to overcome the programming. Part of those decades I just wasn't paying attention to it, it was assumed. It wasn't until I was challenged and admitted the inconsistencies with Scripture that I studied it in depth and walked away rejecting it. For some people, it can be a real crisis of faith. For some, if they reject the "Israel is the chosen to this day and Jesus coming back depends on things happening in Israel", they lose friends and family and some pastors would be kicked out of their churches. It might not seem like a big deal, but it is to them.
