Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — On November 22, 2025, around 4 a.m. when Moore Police Officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of North Eastern Avenue, where suspect Deante Hawthorne shot two people, killing one of them before fleeing the scene. Around 7:30 a.m., Moore Police Officers were called to the area of Northeast 12th Street in Eastern Avenue regarding an unresponsive male who had suffered an apparent medical episode and later died. During the investigation, officers learned the man's vehicle had been stolen. It was later determined that Hawthorne was responsible for taking the vehicle. Just before noon, Oklahoma City Police Officers responded to a report of carjacking in the 3100 block of Northwest 11th Street, where Hawthorne took a couple's vehicle at gunpoint while abandoning the vehicle he had stolen in Moore. Hawthorne then drove this stolen vehicle to the 2100 block of Northeast 26th Street where he shot and killed a man in the street before fleeing.

Officers converged on the area and located Hawthorne driving near Southeast 44th Street and Eastern Avenue. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but Hawthorne refused to stop and instead led officers on a pursuit through the southeast part of the city. The pursuit ended when Hawthorne crashed into a concrete barrier on I240 at Eastern Avenue. A supervisor terminated the ground pursuit and advised Air One to follow above. Hawthorne immediately exited the crashed vehicle armed with a firearm and began trying to carjack multiple passing motorists on the highway. While in the roadway and still attempting to carjack motorist. Hawthorne was struck by two separate vehicles. After being hit by the second vehicle, Hawthorne got back up, still armed with the pistol when an Oklahoma City police officer shot him, stopping the threat. Hawthorne was transported to an area hospital where he died.
