>>524218827even if you argue that a smaller population would be better, low birth rates are still the absolute worst way to go about it, a nuclear war is better at that point, low birth rates will cause an aging population, you'll have loads of old people who will need caretakers, and who will keep voting for more gibs so all politicians will pander to them, suffocating younger generations, making it a hellscape where the ever shrinking young population has to break their backs to support old farts, obviously it makes you weaker in a war too since what are you gonna do, send 80 years olds into battle? and if the enemy outnumbers you 10 to 1 including an industrial base then that's not gonna look good, and of course it also loads to a motivation and moral crisis since young men are willing to break their backs to support their family, wife and children, but they won't break their backs if there's no chance of having a family, a man can survive on a very minimal amount of resources, a family of 5 requires 100x more resources than just 1 single man, if all men drop out of society because there's no point then every part of society will start falling apart, competency crisis all around, nothing functions anymore, and of course the old farts will try to import foreigners so they can have some slaves working for them since their own young are shrinking and dropping out of society, then you get ethnic conflicts erupting in a country where infrastructure is falling apart and is easily invaded since the men are demotivated or old, and you have a social collapse on your hand
