it's genuinely ruined anthropology for me, i feel like if i find something i would have to change my studies to fit a narrative. also the political implications of a whole study being fitted to prop up a race as the first humans ever as some virtuous effort is irredeemably cringe. anyways im sure in the future more people will question it and stop using this as a catchall and instead actually look at people in the modern day and not some fossils
