Despite sanctions, the EU purchased €709 million worth of seafood from Russia in 2024. Russian fish continues to end up on European tables, despite the European Union’s efforts to reduce imports.

Tracing the origin of such fish is difficult for consumers, as labeling is often limited to codes like "FAO 67" or "FAO 27," which indicate fishing areas where Russian vessels also operate.

This is a particularly sensitive issue for Portugal, a country where cod is part of the national cuisine. Along with the Netherlands and Poland, it is among the three largest importers of Russian cod in the EU.

Steshin made a surprising discovery: it turns out that the intensified shelling of Odesa by Russian terrorists only angers people and "pushes them further away" from Russia.

Russian mil bloggers commenting on the destruction of a Russian assault column near Pokrovsk say the operation was commanded by Lt. General Sukhrab Akhmedov - a notorious figure since 2022, when his leadership of the 155th Banzai Brigade led to catastrophic losses at Vuhledar. This time, a column of around 30 vehicles was destroyed and forced to retreat. Other bloggers note that the only way the “second army in the world” can advance now is by sending in and reinforcing groups of no more than one or two infantrymen at a time.

A Russian pro-war blogger is complaining that phone scammers “from Ukraine", naturally, supposedly stole 250 billion roubles from Russians in 2024 and sent it to support Ukraine’s armed forces. That figure would be several times higher than all voluntary donations Russians have made to their own army throughout the entire war.

The numbers are impossible to verify, of course, but the mere idea that Russians are “donating” more to the AFU than to their own army is, frankly, delicious.

Gonna be real here, peace won't happen because it can't.
Even if Ukraine gives up territory for it. Russia knows that Ukraine would always want to get those lands back. Forever. They will also build fortresses along the entire Russian border that will make the maginot line look like a sandcastle, while also constantly upgrading and expanding their drone force without limit.
And they are right to do so, Russia's word can't be trusted after all.
And all that Russia is left with is an economic crisis that will be exploited by China, bombed out cities both in former Ukraine and even Russia itself that would require many many trillions of dollars and decades of immigration to fix and make productive again and a populace that is now even poorer than before the war asking themselves "what did all my fucking sons die for?".

Putin will try to celebrate getting an inconsequential amount of new clay in a country that is already the biggest by landmass. But no one will really care, except perhaps relief that the war is over.
Ukraine and the EU will celebrate stopping and defanging Russia, as Ukies have done something pretty unique in world history. A lot of money will flow into Ukraine to rebuild it, tourism will be through the roof thanks to the goodwill they enjoy across all of Europe as the "gatekeepers".

None of that is good for Putin himself, much less the new pariah state of Russia.
Therefor the war will continue until either Russia collapses, or the entire western world. Since the latter is functionally impossible, pic rel.

The Russian authorities are cracking down on WhatsApp in effort to force the population onto the North Korean style Russian government spyware MAX.

The plan is being implemented according to the YouTube scenario — not a formal ban, but a deliberate degradation of the service. This is reported by RBC and "Agency" with reference to experts of the Russian telecom market.

Cyber experts explain: Roskomnadzor is using the same technologies as during the blocking of YouTube — artificially spoiling the communication channel and "dropping" data packets. The goal is simple: to make users think that the service "broke down on its own" and silently switch to alternatives.

WhatsApp could be completely shut down by the end of the year — the only question is whether the authorities will allow Russians to greet their loved ones with the New Year.

The context is obvious: blocking WhatsApp is a coercion to switch to Max, a messenger that is completely transparent to Russian special services. Formally — "concern for security", in practice — total control and destruction of private communication.

When I lived in Copenhagen some 20 years ago, I remember Denmark being a fierce ally of the US and in NATO, contributing troops to both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Not only did Denmark pay a high price for their involvement - with one of the highest per-capita losses of soldiers in Afghanistan - but also back at home: the society was plagued by terror threats linked to the involvement in the US operations. Plots or extremist activities were luckily uncovered and thwarted.

Over the years, Denmark truly has put some serious skin in the game and its people make great and trustworthy allies. As Finland, we are more than happy to be in NATO, together with our other Nordic friends, contributing to the security of the entire alliance - also in the Arctic.

Self-evidently, it is for Denmark and Greenland to decide on matters concerning Denmark and Greenland.

I really hope to gain some sincere insight here. Are Ukrainian “people” rude and just plain weird to anyone else? There’s been many of them moving to my area and they’re so damn weird. You can usually spot them from a mile away the ways they behave and dress.
>driving home from work
>fag jumps out of side walk to walk down the middle of my lane
>guess he wanted to feel powerful or imposing, had a really fucked up day dealt with too many assholes at work had a fucked up commute that took almost twice as long as normal see what he’s doing so immediately floor it (he was a solid 400 feet ahead of me I knew he was gonna move and if not then that’s just suicide not my fault)
>jumps out of the way puts his hands up like to say “what’s wrong with you????”
>hear some Ukrainian gibberish being yelled after me but already knew it
Then this morning
>have 20 foot wide walking path
>group of drunk 20 year olds walking opposite direction
>immediately start crossing over to my aid when they see me
>they’re expecting me to move to make way
>theres 18 feet of open space to my left already and they chose to try and walk into me
>refuse to move >they get pissy but don’t dare try to accidentally bump into me
>hear that Ukrainian language again
I’m also fairly certain these aren’t refugees but rather just kikes btw. All the military aged men are fighting over there. The only non Jew refugees are women and children. The Jew part would explain a lot obviously but even Jews from other parts of the world aren’t this blatant and weird this level is specific to Ukrainians in my experience. Why are they like this?
Can you imagine if I went into your home and started shitting all over the rug and then got upset if you didn’t allow it?

Absolute retard. The damage any French politician would endure by raising drug prices because a foreign country demanded it is magnitudes higher than the damage by tariffs from French exports to the US, none of them critical anyway as France has unlimited export avenues to other countries if it comes to that.
Not even Le Pen would agree to that because she damn well knows what happens when the French get all guillotin-y.

the tariffs are a self tax, so in the end America only hurts it'self, while the other only loses business, indeed both sides lose business, trade and trust

It's hard to overstate just how devastating Trump's tariffs are for America's signature spirit.

The European Commission has carried out one of its biggest logistical operations by relocating a full thermal power plant from Lithuania to Ukraine.

The complex operation, carried out over 11 months, involved 149 shipments totalling 2,399 tonnes of equipment. In particular, transformers and stators weighed about 172 tons each.

The delivered equipment enabled emergency repair works in several regions of Ukraine, where energy infrastructure had been severely damaged by Russian attacks, Ukraine's Energy Ministry said. According to the EC, this power plant is capable of supplying power to approximately 1 million Ukrainians.

Russia's flagship Urals crude oil plunged to about $34 a barrel, Bloomberg reported, citing Argus Media data.

The grade in the Baltic Sea slumped to $34.82 a barrel on Friday, while in the Black Sea it fell to $33.17. For comparison, Dated Brent on that day stood at about $61.

The discounts for Urals work out at an average of about $27 a barrel at point of export, according to Argus. By the time the oil gets to India, that discount narrows to about $7.50.

Russia may lose part of Armenia's fuel market due to supplies of cheaper Azerbaijani gasoline, which will go on sale on December 23, ArbatMedia reported.

Twenty-two wagons carrying 1,210 tons of 95-octane gasoline produced by Azerbaijan's SOCAR arrived in Armenia via Georgia on December 19. The price of the new fuel will be 18.5% lower than that of its Russian counterpart.

The export was the result of an agreement reached on November 28 in Gabala concerning the restoration of economic links and strengthening of trust between the two countries.

Armenia currently imports more than 60% of its fuel from Russia - 230,000 tons of petrol and 175,000 tons of diesel in 2024, while the rest comes from Iran, Romania, Malta, and Türkiye.

Congratulations to the great geostrategist Putin.

Russian 'Z blogger' Alexey Zhivov believes that the war between Russia and Ukraine will not end with the signing of a peace agreement:

"Simply put, even if we achieve peace on our terms, it will most likely be temporary and compromising, and will not provide Russia with long-term security guarantees and economic relief. And the return of servicemen to civilian life will create many social risks in the regions for which they are not prepared.

Now look at the geopolitical balancing act that is unfolding. Europe has designated us as its main enemy and is preparing for war with us because we are allegedly planning to attack it. But we are not planning to attack, as the president has said many times, but in fact, without a change in the political consensus in Europe, Russia may face years of war and internal turmoil... that is, Ukraine will not be over for us as long as modern Europe exists."

Eighty-nine-year-old Kostiantyn, who devoted 25 years to working in the mines, had to leave his home in the Dobropillia district of Donetsk region after a Russian drone completely destroyed his house.

The man, who lost his wife several years ago, was left entirely alone among the ruins. Taking his chicken with him, he decided to evacuate and set off on a dangerous journey in his own car.

For two days, Kostiantyn shared the only food he had left - pieces of dry bread - with the chicken. He says the bird helped him keep his sanity amid constant attacks.

"The chicken is my friend. For two years, she’s been the only one I’ve talked to. We went through all the shelling together and the moment the drone hit my house. I simply couldn’t leave her behind," Kostiantyn shared.

At the end of 2025, relations between the United States and Venezuela deteriorated sharply. Washington is no longer limiting itself to "paper" sanctions, but is trying to physically stop Venezuelan oil: it is pursuing and intercepting tankers that carry oil in circumvention of restrictions.

I was curious to examine these events in the context of the US-Venezuela-Russia triangle.
For the US, this is no longer just about Maduro. The stakes are higher: to show dominance in the Western Hemisphere and demonstrate that the US is capable of blocking channels for circumventing sanctions in its "backyard." At the same time, it is a blow to the regime's financial base - oil exports. It may also be a signal to other players subject to sanctions (including Russia and Iran) that the rules of the game are changing and logistics are becoming a target.

For Venezuela, the issue is simple: oil = money = regime survival. If exports fall sharply, the risk of an economic shock and a new wave of migration increases. Politically, Caracas defends its position with rhetoric about sovereignty and illegal US pressure; this line is reinforced by Beijing, which criticizes unilateral sanctions and calls the seizure/interception of vessels a violation of international law.

Russia has two interests in this situation. The first is geopolitical: Venezuela remains a convenient platform for signals in the US's "backyard" and information influence. The second is energy-related: Reuters reports that PDVSA's joint ventures with Petromost (a Roszarubezhneft unit) will be extended for 15 years until 2041, which is a way to maintain an "anchor" in the sector.

I agree. Russia can just bribe one Ukrainian traitor to fire one single shot, and the guarantee will be void? This agreement has the built-in mechanism for anopther Russian chimpout at any time.
A serious treaty would have a contingent of the guarantor states at the frontline and they would oversee and deal with any violations, with none being pretext for another invasion.

>>524251277
>At the end of 2025, relations between the United States and Venezuela deteriorated sharply. Washington is no longer limiting itself to "paper" sanctions

In October 2025, Russia's RIA Novosti news agency, citing Kpler's data, reported: "Washington's sanctions have led to Moscow becoming the main supplier of crude oil to Venezuela, completely ousting the US from this market." Venezuela uses Russian oil to dilute its extra-heavy oil, making it more transportable.

But this does not mean that Moscow is ready to pour money into Caracas or to defend it to the very end.

What can the US actually do next? The main tool is maritime coercion + law: interception of "dark fleet" ships, seizure of cargo, risk to insurance and operators. It is important that the approach has an element of balance: Reuters notes the existence of authorized supply channels (through permitted shipments), meaning that the US is trying to leave controlled "valves" open so as not to provoke a complete collapse.
Venezuela, for its part, will continue to adapt through shadow logistics: concealment, changing flags/identities, operating through a narrow group of intermediaries, and relying on China as the main buyer.

!! Some of the vessels involved in these schemes already have experience transporting Iranian or Russian oil, meaning that this is partly a shared "sanctions ecosystem" - this is how authoritarian regimes have learned to maintain exports through discounts and detours.

For example, the tanker Hyperion, which is under US sanctions for transporting Russian oil, loaded a cargo of oil in Murmansk at the end of November. On December 17, 2025, it arrived in Amuay, where Venezuela's largest oil refinery is located, according to ship tracking data.

Now on to the question: will there be a "US war against Venezuela"? If that means a full-scale invasion and regime change by force, the risk currently appears low - it is too costly politically and legally and carries high risks of escalation. But the risk of limited uses of force (more aggressive interceptions, incidents involving the use of force at sea, pinpoint strikes in response to provocations) is high, as the current US strategy already includes military presence as an instrument of coercion.

So, it seems that the US intends to gain "complete control" over Venezuela through oil and demonstrate its dominance in the Western Hemisphere. In this configuration, Russia is unlikely to "fight" for Venezuela, as its real ability to counterbalance the US in the Caribbean is limited, and the price of direct confrontation is too high. Therefore, the most realistic scenario is not a loud "abandonment" of its ally by Moscow, but a quiet reduction of its stake: less visible presence, fewer material commitments, and more focus on diplomacy and an information campaign about the "blockade" and "neo-colonial coercion." If Moscow does try to "trade off" Venezuela, it will not take the form of public bargaining, but will be part of a broader, indirect package game - with the intention of gaining something more important in other areas. The signs of such a scenario are usually visible not in loud statements, but in the details: a decrease in Russia's activity in Venezuela and the parallel emergence of unexpected softening or exceptions in other areas where the Kremlin has higher stakes.

Prior to striking the Russian submarine in Novorossiysk, Ukrainian Security Service has launched a strike on a Russian Il-38N naval reconnaissance aircraft.

One of the key stages of the preparation phase for striking a Russian submarine was the disabling of a Russian anti-submarine aircraft, which could have prevented the Russian submarine from being hit.

The Il-38N aircraft is designed for maritime reconnaissance, searching for submarines, controlling water areas, laying minefields and delivering torpedo strikes.

In the Black Sea, the Russians had only one aircraft of this class, capable of detecting the Sub Sea Baby underwater drone as it moved towards the target. The disabling of this anti-submarine aircraft ensured the successful execution of the main part of the special operation - the explosion of the Varshavyanka-class submarine.

To destroy the Il-38N, the SSU used a modern drone with a surface-to-surface explosion warhead equipped with two thousand downward-directed striking elements. The explosion occurred directly above the compartment with the main equipment and radars, and also damaged the engine.

Glory!

But realistically speaking, it just won't happen. Who'd want to send such a contingent? What if "guarantor states" are complicit? A simple no-man zone will make it at least more difficult for Russians to make moves. And if they do make moves, it will be painfully obvious for everyone, so they couldn't simply stall for time while the West tries to pull itself together, while Russia keeps on taking land.

Russian Nebenzya spoke in the UN regarding Venezuela:

We firmly condemn the seizure by U.S. troops of petroleum tankers and the effective imposition of a blockade on Venezuela.

This intervention, which is unfolding, can become a template for future acts of force against Latin American states in accordance with the so-called Trump corollary and the Monroe Doctrine, which was enshrined in the recently published U.S. national security policy.

Ukrainian Defenders Denys "Bars" and Dmytro "K2" have returned from the positions near the city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region, where they held the line for 130 days.

According to the Warriors, the most difficult moment was their first direct firefight with Russians:

"That was the scariest part. After that, it becomes routine. It’s better when you’re the one shooting, not the one being shot at."

Overall, they eliminated seven Russian occupiers. From the bodies of killed Russian soldiers, they seized radios and for another two months monitored enemy movements, relaying the information to the battalion’s command post.

The Warriors also showed off a captured AK-12 rifle. Denys’s personal weapon was buried under rubble during an attack by a Russian FPV drone, forcing him to use enemy weapons in combat.

The Defenders were evacuated from the position by an all-terrain vehicle with a trailer. Along with them, a 23-year-old Russian prisoner of war, Danil Sychov from Volgograd, was also evacuated. During the fighting, he surrendered to Ukrainian Warriors from a neighboring position, but could not be evacuated at the time. As a result, he remained with the Ukrainian infantrymen at the position for more than two months. They shared their supplies with him.

Ukraine and the United States have developed a "framework" - a basic document consisting of 20 points on ending the war, which will be delivered to Moscow on December 24, the President of Ukraine stated.

Below is a point-by-point breakdown:

◾ Point 1: Ukraine is a sovereign state, and all signatories to the agreement confirm this with their signatures.
◾ Point 2: An unconditional non-aggression agreement with a monitoring mechanism for early detection and prevention of conflicts.
◾ Point 3: Ukraine will receive strong security guarantees.
◾ Point 4: The size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will remain at 800,000 personnel in peacetime.
◾ Point 5: The US, NATO, and European signatory states will provide Ukraine with "Article 5-like" guarantees.
◾ Point 6: Russia will formalize its non-aggression stance towards Europe and Ukraine in all necessary laws and documents, ratifying them by Russia's State Duma.
◾ Point 7: Ukraine will become a member of the EU at a clearly designated time and will receive short-term preferential access to the European market.
◾ Point 8: A global development package for Ukraine, covering a wide range of economic areas.
◾ Point 9: The creation of several funds to address the restoration of the Ukrainian economy, the reconstruction of damaged areas and regions, and humanitarian issues. The aim is to mobilize $800 billion, the estimated cost of the damage from the Russian war.
◾ Point 10: Ukraine will accelerate the process of negotiating a free trade agreement with the US.
◾ Point 11: Ukraine reaffirms its commitment to remaining a non-nuclear state, in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

◾ Point 12: The Zaporizhzhia NPP will be operated jointly by three countries: Ukraine, the US, and Russia (Washington's proposal). Ukraine proposes that the plant be operated by a joint enterprise consisting of the US and Ukraine, on a 50-50 basis.
◾ Point 13: Ukraine and Russia commit to implementing educational programs in schools and society that promote understanding and tolerance of different cultures, fight racism and prejudice. Ukraine will approve EU rules on religious tolerance and minority language protection.
◾ Point 14: In Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson oblasts, the line of military positions on the date of signing will be recognized as the de facto contact line.
◾ Point 15: Russia and Ukraine commit to refraining from using force to alter territorial arrangements and will resolve any disputes through diplomatic means.
◾ Point 16: Russia will not obstruct Ukraine's use of the Dnipro River and the Black Sea for commercial activities. A separate maritime agreement will ensure freedom of navigation and transport, with the Russian-occupied Kinburn Spit being demilitarized.
◾ Point 17: A humanitarian committee will be established to return prisoners of war, including civilians, children, and political prisoners who have been held captive since 2014.
◾ Point 18: Ukraine must hold elections as soon as possible after the agreement is signed.
◾ Point 19: The deal will be legally binding. Its implementation will be monitored by the Peace Council, chaired by President Trump. Violations will lead to sanctions.
◾ Point 20: A complete ceasefire will take effect immediately once all parties agree to the deal.

Pope Leo XIV said he feels "great sadness" that Russia did not agree to a Christmas ceasefire and once again called for 24 hours of peace.

"Truly, one of the things that causes me great sadness these days is the fact that Russia has apparently rejected the request for a Christmas truce. Once again, I make this appeal to all people of goodwill to observe, at least on the feast of the birth of the Savior, a day of peace. Perhaps they will listen to us, and there will be 24 hours, a day of peace, across the world," he said, speaking to journalists.

Russian strikes on the Pivdennyi Seaport in the Odesa region caused vegetable oil to leak into the sea, according to the city's regional military administration.

The Russians damaged a tank containing sunflower oil, causing it to spill into the estuary and then into the sea. To prevent further pollution, the harbor channel was blocked with two layers of containment booms.

Birds affected by the oil spill were taken to the Odesa Zoo for rehabilitation.

Russia continues damaging Ukrainian environment.
