Look at this concept car. This was designed in 1987. It's beautiful, it's large, and purely American. It accurately predicted many future trends in vehicles like backup cameras and voice activated commands, as well as lack of door handles for better aerodynamics. It is just one example from many of a more perfect future that we were promised, and that has not only failed to materialize, but has seemed to grow impossible distant. The world was never perfect. America was never perfect. There were always problems. But as you looked back at history, there was this sense that things would get only get better with time. Our grandparents grew up with only 1 car to a household and sometimes not even their own phone line, and no a/c, and AM radio and records with bad sound quality, and horrible air pollution. Things improved in our parents time, they got better audio, smaller devices with transistors, faster and safer vehicles, a/c. Being alive in the 1950s/60s was obviously far superior to life in the 1920s. By the 90s we had videogames, the internet, personal computers, airbags, cable TV and more targeted entertainment. Paper was glossier, cameras were better and higher resolution. The 1990s and the 2000s were objectively better than any time beforehand. Even after 9/11 I was still able to be optimistic. But something happened in the mid-2010s, around when Trump entered politics, and it seems like everything has been getting worse since then. Internet search results used to give me perfect results even when my search parameters were abstract, for example. New cars have gotten worse in most ways, absent perhaps self driving. Everything is becoming a subscription service, and it's not better, it's worse. Netflix was awesome in 2011, somehow in 2025 it has fewer good movies and TV shows.
>>524247141This future in which things are getting worse instead of better is profoundly depressing to me. I wouldn't even care about inflation and housing affordability if the technology and discovery was improving. Like, if we were landing more astronauts on the moon, and cars were close to getting 300mpg, your average new PC came with 100 TB of storage and 250GB of RAM. If our food was healthier, medicine was better, and our lifespans were getting longer instead of shorter, I could tolerate the worse economic conditions. Like, if I was making 20 bucks an hour but I could have access to healthy food and an efficient reliable car and I knew that humans were doing cool shit in space I wouldn't mind if my life was personally shitty. But knowing that we seem to be regressing in many ways, even just compared to 10 or 15 years ago, is so extremely depressing. Knowing what 2025 is like compared to 2015...it's hard for me to imagine the 2030s or the 2040s. At this point I wonder if it will just be complete dystopia, with minimal creative ability amongst the people, and return to the kind of slop that was TV in the 80s and 90s but without any of the good parts. The beauty of the shitty aspects of the late 20th century was that they were cheap. Sure McDonald's and Taco Bell were bad for you, but you could get a full meal for 5 dollars or less and be very satisfied. It was an acceptable trade off. Now it's expensive and it's still shitty. The declining social cohesion from mass immigration and diversity is depressing, but again, if there were tangible technological benefits or this new mass of people was helping us to settle colonies on the moon or something it would all be so much more tolerable.
>>524247153Am I just going crazy because my life personally is shitty and I have a bad job, or are things just getting worse across the board out there? It's 2025 now, and I can't think of anything in my life or in American society in general that is better than it was in 2020 or 2015 with the exception of things being "less woke". But I don't even care about woke vs not woke, I just want actual human progressIt just seems like since the mid-2010s the only changes have been worse goods and services at worse prices, and then changing social attitudes about trannies, immigration, and other hot button political issues. We have declining quality of life for nearly everyone and the only things people get excited about are political issues. I just don't get it. I know that the rich and super rich do have access to better technology and services. I think the don't die stuff that Bryan Johnson is doing is cool, and I'm sure having a full self driving Tesla is nice and there are plenty of other novel luxuries that the rich can afford. But are they really that great? And will they ever trickle down to normal people? I like the idea of owning a self driving car someday, but it seems like that won't be possible. You'll just be able to order a Waymo and that'll be it. Is this future even better for rich people. If you're an adult who has been rich for over a decade, or you grew up super rich, is your life really that much better than 10 or 20 or 30 years ago? Like, even if I was a billionaire, I think I would still be somewhat upset that the general quality of films, television, and music has declined over the past 15 years. It's really starting to look like the late 2000s and maybe up until 2012 was the last real peak of human creativity. Yes we have rudimentary artificial intelligence now, but it's still not clear to me that this will really improve human existence. It'll make producing moving images and videos easier and more affordable, but will that be better?

>>524247141pic related is from a book called Future by Michael Tambini first published in 1998 and later revised in a 2004 edition. This is the 2004 editionhttps://www.scribd.com/document/362389522/Future-pdfLook at pic related. It's a calendar of predictions by year for the early 21st century. They thought we'd have a man land on Mars by 2019. They thought average life expectancy would be over 100 by 2025, and that growing artificial/genetically engineered replacement organs would be commonplace by now. They thought we'd have widespread household robots by the early 2010s.

People love to conflate cause and effect.Over here in Bongland people think the UK is doing badly because of Brexit. You find this everywhere, except in the numbers. Because people here voted for brexit BECAUSE UK was doing badly. If you had been doing great or even just OK you'd never have been able to interest anyone in such a topic. >>524247141a lot of concept cars look similar. a lot of money is pumped into them. they never are produced. the realistic answer is they likely cannot be mass produced and achieve the same concept.
>>524248050>2008, around when Obama entered politics, zoom zoom.I'm 35, not a zoomer. I went to college starting in 2009. The economy was bad, we had occupy wall street, but things were still so much better than today. >>524247680>No m8. Things had already got worse, that is WHY he entered politics, because it was obvious America was going to get screwed. People love to conflate cause and effect.I'm not talking about economically, my thread is mainly concerning technology although it could be expanded to music and TV and other creative fields. In 2008-2012 there was still great TV being produced, like Mad Men for example as well as Breaking Bad.Technology was still rapidly improving from 2008 to 2013 or so. The most apparent degeneration to me is in internet search. You used to be able to go on Google and search "what's that song that goes da da, Dee Dee, dah duh!" and like 9 out of 10 times with a vague search like that it would somehow return you to the actual song you were looking for. Google specifically worked fantastically in that time period. And then around 2015 or so it started to get worse, and now it is practically unusable and only shows you advertisements or sponsored content. Instead they want to direct you to the more energy intensive AI systems for your search queries. A quick example of this is searching for information about drugs, specifically illegal drugs. You used to be able to Google how to make bongs, or devices to shoot heroin, or how to make meth or smoke crack, and it would actually give you erowid results and results from web forums like shroomery.org, bluelight.ru and grasscity and stuff for weed related things. When searching for supplements it would direct you to Longecity forums. Starting around 2016 or 2017 (maybe as late as 2018) they changed this. Now if you search for cocaine or heroin or other illegal drug related info on Google, it just returns you page after page of links various Rehab clinics around the country
>>524248313>a lot of concept cars look similar. a lot of money is pumped into them. they never are produced. the realistic answer is they likely cannot be mass produced and achieve the same concept. They don't even make concept cars anymore...that's part of the issue I'm talking about. Even in the 2000s the auto companies would still make new concept cars to get you excited about their brand and their future products. Ford in particular had a lot of amazing concept cars from that time period. When was the last time you saw a real concept car that wasn't just a computer rendering? It's probably been at least 15 or 20 years ago. This is one of those things I will agree with the other anon that probably is a result of the 2008 crash. Car companies just stopped investing millions of dollars into research and instead only focused on next quarter profits. If you ever do see concept cars now, they're just iterations on existing models, showing some features that might be on the model coming out next year. It's very rare to see a radical concept like the Cadillac that Doug demuro viewed in my OP pic relatedEverything seems to be getting shittier and I don't understand the purpose of this. Why would elites do this to us? Don't they want cool shit too?
>>524248151>>524248151Yeah but is it just AI? Is that really the answer for all of this? Things started to suck before ChatGPT and LLMs came out in 2021 or 2022 or whenever the fuck they were released. Things started to get noticeable shittier in the mid to late 2010s and that enshittification has only accelerated in the 2020s. It's just hard to wrap my head around. As a little kid and even a teenager I was really excited about the future. I couldn't wait to be an adult and in my 30s and 40s because even if I was older I thought we'd have commonplace space travel, we'd have more efficient transportation. The internet and media would be better. This is honestly what terrifies me. For at least the last 150 or 180 years, society has continually advanced and progressed. From railroads to streetcars to the automobile to rocketry, the internet, microwave meals and so forth. Everything for the past 200 years almost has just gotten better all the time. Even during the Great Depression of the 1930s, technology continued to improve. In the 1930s Ford and other manufacturers started making cars with V8 Engines that had real power. Movies started to be released in color by the mid-30s. This was supposedly the worst time in the world economically, but they were still investing in advancing technology. It's just hard for me to think of any consumer tech that is objectively better today than 10 or 15 years ago. My smartphone doesn't do anything now that I didn't use it for in 2013. VR headsets really don't seem that cool or useful yet. Re-usable rockets from SpaceX are neat but there's still no tangible benefit. A.I. seems good at undercutting artists and allowing corporate middle-management types to get you to be more productive without paying you more money. Drones are cool for taking photos and killing Slavs, but other than that they haven't been very revolutionary in daily lifeIt just doesn't seem like anyone is benefiting from this yet. Maybe we will.

>>524249031>You have to understand those predictions are to sell fake promises to make jews richPerhaps. And certainly there were predictions of "the year 2000" from the 50s and 60s that didn't pan out how they thought it would. I'm not discounting that a lot of these books are mostly fantasy. But still...at least they helped us to dream back then. Where are the children's books of today showing off cool predictions of the future? Even if I take your premise that this is fake to make Jews (or others) rich, why aren't they doing this anymore?I was born in 1991, throughout my entire life technology improved at a rapid pace, up until around 10 years ago. I remember being 7 and my mind was blown by Super Mario 64. A video game that was totally 3D? It was so insane when all we had before was Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. N64 was revolutionary. GameCube and PS2 were so much better it was insane. And Xbox 360 and PS3 another big leap forward. And then it just all kinda stopped. GTAV is still one of the biggest games out, and it came out on 360. Fallout 3 is being re-released, it's almost 20 years old. Cell phones went from being bulky, to being tiny, to being smartphone screens. And then they haven't really changed or gotten much better since then. Is there a political or economic reason for this? I understand inflation, but even in the high inflation times of the late 70s and early 80s, tech still improved rapidly. People went from listening to records in the 70s to listening to cassettes on their walkman in the 80s and buying CDs if they wanted truly epic sound quality. Computers went from being relatively non-existent to somewhat commonplace in the workplace. Is there even one aspect of technology now that is getting better that people are excited about? Anything besides "AI" ?

>>524249135>>524249196Both cars are gorgeous. The Citroen DS was truly incredible for it's time. It's a shame that the French never properly invested in the American market. So many of our roads are so shitty in many parts of the country now that a car with Citroen suspension sounds like a dream. And the Cadillac sixteen, truly incredible concept. It's such a shame they never built it. They could've competed with Bugatti and Ferrari and other supercar makers. It would've been great for Cadillac, GM, and thus America, but they cucked out. >>524249222checked, maybe a lot of these problems were a long time coming, but it just feels like we peaked in the 2010s, or like a lot of investment went away from research and development and into financialization or something. I just wish I knew exactly what happened and why it happened. And I'll reiterate, is there anything worth getting excited about right now? Is there anything that might happen in the future in the next few years that is supposed to get people excited?I just don't understand the end-game here. It really makes me think that some of the darker conspiracy theories about a breakaway civilization with UFO level technology are actually real. And that they want to depopulate the earth and return us to feudal low-tech society that is easier to control. A forced de-industrialization. I think about the early 2010s and it was still a somewhat exciting time. Even technologically, new stuff was happening. I remember a hipster girl telling me about this new website for sharing artsy photos called Instagram. I remember Snapchat coming out my senior year of college and I didn't understand it but though it was fun. I remember when Uber was developed as an app and it seemed so cool. Especially living in the Midwest where taxi service didn't really exist. Even though these were just "apps" it was still cool. I can't remember the last time I got excited about a new "app". Where is the new Uber or Doordash? How was there all of this tech creativity in the early 2010s and now it's all just slight iterations on those developments?
>>524249574Even cryptocurrency seems to have turned out to be a huge bust. Besides some people getting rich it seems to be totally pointless. Monero is cool but only worth it for buying illegal drugs. Ethereum was supposed to be a "world computer" but what the fuck is actually going on with the tech? Maybe that's the last time I was really excited about the future. When Bitcoin was taking off and entering mainstream consciousness in 2017 I thought finance and internet commerce might be revolutionized. It seemed like Blockchain might be able to solve a lot of problems in society and we could increase privacy and also efficiency of financial transactions as well as program smart contracts. All of that seemed really cool and interesting to me, but that was almost a decade ago and nothing has happened. Crypto has just been a giant ponzi scheme with no real world benefits that I know of besides some people getting rich. It's all memecoins now. Where is actual tech advancement even happening?

I'd like to think it will have a positive impact on society but Bitcoin came out in like 2009 or 2010 and how has it positively impacted anything besides making a few early adopters rich?
https://wtfhappenedin1971.com/The Kardashev scale (Russian: шкaлa Кapдaшёвa, romanized: shkala Kardashyova) is a method of measuring a civilization's level of technological advancement based on the amount of energy it is capable of harnessing and using. The measure was proposed by Soviet astronomer Nikolai Kardashev in 1964After WWII when USD became the world reserve currency it created the cantillon effect which resulted in the triffin dilemma.Cantillon effect is basically an observation of how the money creators unfairly benefit in the economy. Triffin dilemma describes that being the world reserve currency means you outsource production because it's so much cheaper. Eventually this leads to a hollowed out country with no industry and a failing currency. Bitcoin mining is the solution to both those problems by replacing the beneficiaries of the cantillon effect with the local powerplants. This merges production and reserve currency. It also makes energy cheaper and more available so I mentioned Kardashev. That's just the mining side, but it's the most important because it take over the means of production through good business.

>>524250938>Tesla has revolutionized the car industry though.Tesla is the only car company that seems remotely futuristic. Rivian and Lucid and some other EV manufacturers are cool, but they aren't as cutting edge with tech and software as Tesla is, and I get it, but even still, Tesla isn't that exciting. Yes they have fast cars and the self driving is good, but you can't really take them on road trips easily yet. They will be truly revolutionary once you can get over 1000 miles per charge. Until then, or at least 700 or 800 miles per charge, they're just nice city cars. Either way, I still don't find them as exciting as the concept cars of the 90s and 2000s. The Cybertruck concept revealed in 2018 or whenever was the probably the last real concept car reveal, and it flopped. Here in the US most people hate the cybertruck. And even the ones that like it, well, it didn't live up to the concept. It looks worse. It's not bulletproof, and it's just huge. I see a few of em around town here and while I appreciate the styling, most people think they're weird. You can't use them to tow boats or campers like you can with a real non EV truck, and so most truck people here don't like them. They're basically just like a ferrari or something, it's a car that you buy to show other people that you are rich. Beyond being a status symbol there's nothing that cool about them

>>524251764You sound like a shill. It's not wrong to notice that society seems to be getting worse in a material way. It used to be that you could argue things are getting worse socially, but tech was still getting better at least, and maybe that would solve some of the social issues or lead to economic prosperity that would solve those issues. But now the tech barely seems to be getting better, and everything is just getting worse. Entertainment and materials are legitimately important aspects of any civilization. Societies without meaningful entertainment and without the ability to produce material goods of high quality are rightfully considered backwards and retarded societies. That's why no one gives a shit about whatever happens in the mountains of Uzbekistan. >>524251764>you shouldn't have an attitude after being treated badly for X years, just find godoh Ill find god and ill unmake the cunt.
>>524247425Everything is designed this way by our system. Take your search result example. Google had reached about the peak of its popularity and a company needs constantly improvising profits. So they literally made search worse so people would do more searches to be served more ads to make more money. You can look into this if you do not believe me. Same thing with fast food or prices of everything going up more than rate of inflation. Either the people that print the money are lying about the effects of the money printing or companies realized selling 5 burgers for 5.00 makes more money than selling 20 burgers for $2.This is all due to capitalism but it also is due to jews pulling the strings on capitalism and extracting wealth at all points possible. The money being generated doesn't feed back into the system causing further draw and demands (debt) until the system collapses.
Get on my level.

>>524247153It’s truly the worst dystopia by combining the oppressive nature of cyberpunk with the decaying nature of the first Mad Max movie or Children of Men. The governments and oligarchs using hard power and Orwellian tactics to show any sense of power when everything is crumbling around them, in a vain attempt to keep a presence of legitimacy when the average person is celebrating heroes who gun down our betters and tyrants in the street.

>>524247141I was just commenting about this on a Sabine Hoffsteder video. It's so fucking sad that we can't advance and it's all normies fault. They actively attack smart people trying to learn and innovate, like actually hate them and try to ruin their lives simply because they try to talk about what we can do better. If some people are sociopaths that just want to rule people and sit on their ass all day in the bosses chair then eventually society will reach a point where these psychos are big enough in number that they fill most positions in authority. One person wants to put in an honest effort and innovate, another wants to dominate those around him. Naturally the one that wants to dominate will take power and never give it up while the person that wants to innovate will lose power because he does not seek it. Leading to a complete breakdown of society becoming a natural certainty as the sociopaths become greater and greater in number and introduce themselves into more and more systems.

>>524247141>Look at this concept car. This was designed in 1987. It's beautiful, it's large, and purely American. We have a better, more efficient option compared to that boat, and it's called the Toyota Prius. It required multinational greenwashing propaganda, plus an oil war to get Americans to buy a ton of them. It's not likely to happen again.
