You know the US did not used to have a permanent federal income tax? They had to implement it after Prohibition, because taxes on alcohol were literally one THIRD of the US federal budget. Permanent income tax was meant to replace alcohol taxes. Except when Prohibition was repealed, the income taxes remained. Whoops lol.Oh, and the first permanent income taxes? They were meant to only apply to millionaires, nobody else. Look how that turned out.
