I've always said the clothing that's worn is a pretty good metric for how life is going. In the 90's color was everywhere, you would even have 80 year olds wearing pink windbreakers, whereas today everything is either grey, white, or black. It's the same with cars, and buildings. People were far happier and far more fun.
