I notice it with /pol/, too.
I remember when we had serious conversations alongside or within the shitposty ones.
Now it's literally all ragebait or - to get closer to my original point - midwit Culture Wars shit masquerading as political opinions.

OK, I don't disagree with that point entirely in fact I agree with it about 90% of the way. But I didn't say "Culture Wars," shit wasn't important - just that it was shitty.
Let's look at just America. Go read Early American History or, shit, anything before like 1960 I'd say.
The political discourse was all on seriously highbrow stuff like economic policy, constitutional law, domestic affairs, trade relations, analysis of geopolitics and how to use it to inform our foreign policy, etc..
Compared to today's, "Nothing ever happens," shit always used to be happening in this Republic. But what I notice is very rarely was it ever shit like this "Culture Wars," bullshit in our history except maybe the Slavery debate. Also that you literally have to have a high IQ even for today's White man to understand any of the issues or be tittilated by them. Nobody's greenlighting a dramatic miniseries to talk about the Protectionism debates or the Silver v. Gold standard argument.
Nobody actually knows what it takes to run a nation anymore, especially not one this size and this powerful.
"Politics," today, is literally just bread and circuses at all levels. Nothing real or serious gets talked about or discussed, nobody really knows anything. It's why so many people even in Congress say dumb shit like we owe the National Debt to China.
Has anyone else looked back in history and noticed this shit? How do we fix it?
