Christmas, like all holidays are behavioral control rituals for NPCs so they don't get up to mischief during recesses away from work. Additionally, it is meant to cause family strife and steal money from you via the expectation of gift giving.

Screw this, I'll shop tomorrow! Didn't expect to get kicked 7 days in a row before Xmas. Whoops. So while I didn't ruin my Xmas as a person living alone it's still lame to not have a holiday kitchen of good food. Even if solo... Oh well... Spare frozen pizza it is...
