I think his CHINA IS COLLAPSING thesis is dead wrong but China does stand a pretty big risk of falling into stagnation like Japan did IF the developed world works together on protecting its industry. So far the west has failed at that but China is now threatening high value added industries with much more success (lol zeihan still claiming they 'failed to climb the value chain').I think it's more likely than not that China will ultimately fizzle out as its severely negative demographic trends (even worse than the west, they've faked 200+ million births since 1990, China most likely has less than 1 billion people) force it to play its hand too early, if they had another 10 years of runway to spring the "we control the means of production" trap it would have been much harder for the west to cope, as is if the west really wanted to decouple it would be a few rough years but ultimately more production exists outside of China than within it and most of the value chains China controls are not essential/can be replaced within a few years as opposed to a few decades. They managed some of the pitfalls and created better contingencies than Japan did but the core issue is still there. The west built the entire system that created the modern Chinese economy. A rat in a cage can escape but the odds are stacked against it by design.
A nation content to enslave its own people will NEVER collapse due to economic reasons. Other reasons, perhaps, but none that these shills proclaim.
