We sort of only just in the last 10 or so years worked out that quite a few of them died of small pox.
The aboriginal Australians fucked the ecosystem btw. They were not stewards of the land or 'country' as they call it at all. The fire stick farming technique they used which saw them routinely set fire to the country as a hunting technique so they could just eat the burned corpses of anything that couldn't get out caused widespread local and national extinctions of animals and plants. They did this to the point of forcing evolutionary changes and now it has to be burned because they require direct fucking fire or smoke germination. We have evidence that a great deal of these fire/smoke germination adaptations did not occur until after the aboriginals had settled the country.This is part of the overkill hypothesis which gained new evidence last year under review. They burned animals to extinction and were extremely wasteful taking less than 10% of the burned corpses. It wasn't just the direct fire either herbivores starved to death due to lack of resources and competition. The aboriginals were running around the country like a group of weird psychopaths burning and killing anything that moved. They are a bizarre people and I dont want to be around them.
