What caused fattization of US?
>>
>>524397822

Sunsidized corn syrup added to everything + car centric culture + low food standards.

Basically everything boils down to politicians selling the country to corpotate lobbyists.
>>
>>524397822
Overweight/obesity rates are rising all over the west for decades now. Granted the US is affected harder and they do deserve stereotype for it, but they're far from alone.
>>
>>524397822
The US is perhaps the most slothful and gluttonous society in all of human history. It is a modern Sodom.
>>
Sink or swim economics and lack of ethics in the food industry have driven farmer households in the US to being hyper competitive and unethical themselves to stay afloat and compete instead of actually offering a high quality alternative product to the consumer. That or they are incentivized to work for agricultural conglomerates who have no oversight when it comes to observing the product they make.
The US food industry also has little to no actual regulations. Recalls happen every few months and they're preemptively announced to prevent lawsuits. The American diet will never be healthy because, like every other part of the country's domestic economy and industry, it is bloated with tools that the people in charge can use to deject accountability and tell the public "Not My Problem" when they find lead or flouride in their food.
>>
>>524397824
Not only West. Worst per capita obesity has hit the Pacific and Caribbean island nations. The gulf Arabs are also fat fucks.
>>
>>524397826
Oh, also. Since tangible assets are becoming more inaccessible, corporate america is ramping up consumerist nonsense for everyday necessities like food to artificially pump the economy up. The dubai chocolate craze is one example of this. There are entire stores and chains in the US whose mission statement is to sell complete slop that doesn't even taste good but has great presentation. Starbucks is one example.
>>524397827
Gulf Arabs are lards because they have a bunch of US food chains in their country. Same reason why urban latinx america is full of obese lard asses. It always goes back to low quality US slop.

>What caused fattization of US?
Unironically capitalism. They try to prohibit shit food with regulations but "muh communism"/"anti america" sentiment still allows it.

I'm not condoning communism, but at least they had an interest in keeping people healthy, and not allow the free market run rampant on onions.
>>
Americans just eat a lot. Gluttony used to be considered a sin but no longer.
>>
>>524397822
Early on it was cheap cars. Finnish athlete Paavo Nurmi was disgusted by the use of automobiles for relatively short trips, during the interwar years. Then television sucked up attention a generation earlier than the rest of the world, couch potatoism spread much earlier. Kids quit playing outdoors decades earlier than in Europe.
Then they fucking invented sneed oils for human consumption. First cottonseed, then rapeseed called "canola" for candian motor oil company. People didn't like those so they scaremongered that the butter people had eaten for thousands of years was dangerous. Obesity skyrocketed in the 70s when burger chains realised people ate more if they fried stuff in sunflower oil instead of tallow. Unsaturated fats don't saturate your hunger.
>>
>>524397822
The collection of these factors:
1. Fat panic - replaced fats with sugar. Sugar is #1 for making people fat. HFCS accelerates this.
2. Fast food - high calorie meals delivered quick replaced eating at home
3. Delivery services - further demolished eating proper with convenience. Also correlated with atomization of people.
4. No exercise - people became couch potatoes. So high calorie diet + no activity = lardass
5. Produce is enshitified thanks to globohomo farming practices
6. Seed oils in everything driving up PUFA consumption.
7. Deletion of education on Home Ec and Nutrition from public schools.

So basically Americans are perfectly programmed goyslop consumers that become lardasses to suit globohomo. Being in the kitchen is "sexist" and everyone is addicted to fast food and doordash convenience. Soda addiction also accounts for most of the sugar consumption, a 12 oz can is 250 calories, 4 cans worth in a day nets you HALF of your daily allotment.

Plus any effort to improve this politically is struck down by globohomo. So it boils down to the individual, and most of the time the midwits choose globohomo slop.

it has nothing to do with communism vs capitalism. do you really think the food suppy in china is offering its people a better quality of food?
>>
>>524397822
Cotton tends to wear out land, changing the pH levels. Grain crops such as corn has a way of reversing that change, but historically it was cheaper for farmers to simply ruin land and move to new land, because of the value of cotton.

Then cheap land caused farmers to grow in old grasslands that were never ideal for agriculture. This created the Dust Bowl, which removed topsoil and blew it around the country like a biblical plague.

Part of reducing the impact of this loss, and preventing it in the future, is to keep cover-crops planted during off-seasons, and to recover old better farmland that had been previously used for cotton. Subsidizing corn made it competitive with cotton for the space it used, and allowed the land to rotate between cotton and corn.

So all the extra cheap corn, is turned into product. Animal feed. Human food. Also, processed fructose corn syrup. That cheap cheap sugar that makes its way into any sweet tasting product. People buy sweet food more than things without corn.

Corn could be turned into fuel for factories and cars, but politicians are in the pocket of big oil, so you will instead eat the corn.

>do you really think the food suppy in china is offering its people a better quality of food?
Yes. They manipulate tiktok algorithms and have state orchestrated media literally as a tool to improve society and it's citizens. Literally everything they do serves the Chinese people, not shareholders or investors.

Post obese Chinese people.

manipulating tiktok algorithms and other such social engineering activities isn't exclusive to communist states. maybe the chinese government has better priorities but thats not a result of their economic system.

it's pretty simple. and it's not what most people think which is fast food. it's the food in the grocery store being straight up slop for the most part. up until the 1980s or so, most people ate home cooked meals for dinner but the food was very different. go even further back to my great-grandparents and even grandparents growing up, they had one helping of dinner, no seconds, and they weren't big dinners. not even because they were poor, that was just normal. now we eat like mexicans(as you would assume) which means extremely unhealthy food combined with extremely large portions. people go back for seconds and thirds even though the original helping was big to start with. combine that with all the "snacking" between meals which wasn't a thing back in the day..back then a man ate some oatmeal before work, had a bologna sandwich for lunch, and had a home-cooked dinner with modest portions. potato chips, sugary sweets, and soda/beer is essentially a staple of the western diet now and those things blow you ip fast if you don't have an extremely fast metabolism. people eat for taste/addiction cravings now instead of sustenance.

From what I understand, when you order soda in an american restaurant (which no adult would ever do), you get unlimited refills?

Nobody smokes anymore also. That keeps you thin. Or at least the nicotine rush it makes it easier to ignore hunger. Dieting is much easier if you smoke.

I dunno. When I went to school the basic cheapest meal was a slice of dominos, a basket of fries, a side of Ranch dressing and a chocolate milk. That was $2.50. if you had an extra dollar you could toss in a 20oz coke, or upgrade the dominoes to Chick fil a. My school had just cut a deal with Coke, and we had at least 30 maybe even 50 brand new top of the line coke vending machines. Every single kid had a 20oz coke product at all times because my school allowed them in class. My school had zero Mexicans, and one black kid named Wheaton or some crap.

>maybe the chinese government has better priorities but thats not a result of their economic system.
Yes, it is. It's just a tragedy that it inevitably leads to restriction of certain liberties afforded by capitalist systems. We're all going to lose our freedoms in order to be able to compete with Chyna. The EU is well aware of this, and is actively trying to establish a chinaesque society.

Sounds insane.
>>
It's a 1-2 punch
junk food equals tasty and addictive while being very low in nutrition
not getting nutrition keeps you hungry it makes you seek out more food
the optional 3rd punch is artificial flavoring confuses your brain, making it think it's getting real food when it isn't.

Communism literally sent asbestos into the air and turned a sea into a desert filled with poisonous chemicals.

No, the states' care about health of the population has everything to do with military service. States want their cannon fodder to be healthy, vaccinated, not suffering from polio and not obese. Literally every state that thinks it might fight an existential war in the future takes care in the health of the population. When the danger abates, it'd back to the old habits of poisoning and fattening your proles.

In case of America you can almost to the point show that when the state stopped enforcing draft, people started getting poisoned by the greedy corporation and media became filled with anti-scientific nonsense about health and vaccines.

And capitalism didn't? Everybody enjoyed asbestos. My school had to close because of it, and rebuild. Radiation was once thought to be energizing, given as energy drinks, capitalism is at the same stage.

Late stage capitalism is ogre, and you can\t convince me otherwise.

It is more than just eating. Almost all food we have is extremely processed. Even the "organic" vegetables are genetically modified for maximum yield, color, and volume rather than nutritional value. Same with animals. In addition to that, food has a bunch of chemicals added to extend shelf life, which needs even more stuff added to make it palatable. This leaves us with an extremely calorie dense, mildly addictive, yet nutritionally lacking diet.
Our food is basically poison compared to most other countries.
