This Somali fraud has been going on for a long time, basically since they’ve been in the US. There have been reports out of Minnesota for years, but it’s just been swept under the rug. In the early 2010s I taught ESL to a bunch of Somalis in Portland and while funny and charismatic, they were all hardcore scammers and they were totally upfront about it. They’re totally tribalistic and in their minds, the US wrecked their country (whether or not that’s true) so they were justified in getting the max out of the system. Respect the game, but these people are parasites.
