I can vouch for this being a real thing. I worked perimeter security for a tiny little city of female victims of domestic violence. I had very strict orders to stay in designated areas, and got paid to basically get on the radio with “armed response” (which was weird because I had a gun) if anyone tried to get in without clearance. I also had to “radio check” my guard number at specific times or, when requested. I messed up that part one time and was promptly fired. Paid good too. $60/hr to drive around in circles. It reminded me of that movie “The Village” even though I never once stepped inside. But it was like that.
