Why does everyone say "plumbers make good money"? There isn't enough work to keep everyone busy and apprentices don't earn enough to pay their bills. Even the journeymen complain their paycheque is gone the moment they receive it. The only one making "good money" is the owner of the plumbing company. The trades are easily found in their data and the data can be broken down by state, city, etc. to see local rates. It isn't perfect, but far closer to reality than the shit you will see people claim. The reality is that people confuse total annual earnings and hourly rate. Most tradies work a lot of hours and some do quite well for themselves, but their hourly rates are not nearly as impressive as they think they are. Simply looking at total annual earnings is a bad metric or how lucrative an occupation is. Hourly rate is everything. If you make 100k work 60+ hours per week at your 30/hr job it is not the same as when someone else makes 100k working 40 hours at their 50/hr job. The higher hourly rate guy has ton of time for himself, family, or he can pick up an extra job or overtime (if available) and make even more money than you could ever hope to because you are limited by the lower hourly rate.
