GDP is a fake measurement. I get a haircut here in the US, it's $50, +$50 to the GDP. I go to China and get the same haircut, it's $10, +$10 to the GDP. Wow, the US is 5X as economically productive! It's a fake number that doesn't really mean anything. It's why the number can go up while everything around you gets worse.
