and shipped it off to the 3rd world. You have no idea how this has impacted your life. Tearing the bottom out of the car market has turned every moment of every day into a struggle for American families and young Americans.

Trump, we need utilitarian, affordable, fixable cars. This is urgent.

>>524500223
This. I was given two cars for free in the late. 90s-00s. I bought a v6 Dodge Challenger for $1200 cash. Kids today will never understand how cheap and available used cars were in America.

they didn't even destroy a million cars and there are 300 million cars currently on the road

those steel bodied cars were something else.
they offered visions of a future.
and they had character and wouldnt explod when you drove them into things.

the room in the seats were splendid
and if you had enough wrenches and a brain, you could get it to have the engine light shut off.

the end of the steel machine was the castration of your lofty dream.

I owned three cars when I was 20….and thy were old, but they worked. Got one for free, and bought two others for $700 each. I even had a motorcycle and a 1995 Ford Econoline conversion van AKA “The Shagmobile” all before I was 23. Then in 2008 I got rid of them and bought my first new car…but like, it didn’t matter. Nobody cared. Girls stopped being fun to be around, guys were depressed/angry. Tons of my friends were taking the bus….I wrote it off to the recession, but then it never came back! Chicks didn’t used to care if you had some old piece of shit with no A/C. A car was a car. A van was a party-mobile, but now it’s “a creeper van.” And “my Uber’s pulling up.” Women either drive themselves in brand new cars (where the fuck they’re getting that money from beats me) or it’s UBER. And heaven forbid they leave the Uber driver waiting, when nobody used to give a shit if the cab had been out there for an hour.

Can’t fix these new cars for shit (I’m a mechanic). I’m seeing brand new cars, like not even a fucking year old with unsolvable electrical issues. Brake pedal return springs snapping on 2026 RAV4s WTF??? If you work with cars or know someone who does ask them/yourself if it feels like they’re living in the twilight zone. My theory is they’re going to flip the switch and everyone is gonna have a “subscription” to Waymo or ALL cars are going to be driverless in 5-10 years. If you wanna make money get into towing. I’ll tell you that much.
>>

The day Obama croaks I will mark on the calendar and start celebrating as a personal holiday. He's 64 now, I assume with Presidential healthcare he'll live to be 100 like Jimmy Carter, so only ~40 more years to go. If he makes it to longevity escape velocity I will be upset.

I have known dozens of people from work alone when I was a retail wagie who limited their working hours to maintain welfare for housing, food, daycare, utility assistance and drove new model year vehicles. The white race is not in a position to restrain itself with any kind of illusion of moral high ground or "we're better than that". We are in the crucible of destruction and the unmixed genes must survive. It took hundreds of thousands of years of struggle and sacrifice to produce the genetic profile necessary for planetary improvement, and if we lose them in the next 100 years, the conditions for producing them will very likely never reoccur. White survival is paramount to avoiding planet of the apes and regression to animals.

Sounds like some cowardly, chickenshit hooch you're brewing there, anon.

>>524503927
> Waymo has about 4.5x lower accident rate than humans

I need to address that. Because I hear it a lot now. Listen, just between you and me, if you’re driving 65mph and a meth zombie jumps in front of your truck….are you going to hit him, slam on the brakes and kill him anyway as well as the people behind you, or swerve off the road and crash into a tree, thus killing yourself and then the car behind you kills the future doctor anyway?

Because I know what I would do. You really want to lose that decision power?

that was a program in 2009 and it paid for cars <25 years old with horrible mileage. So that means cars from before ~1990. Nobody normal would drive a car that's over 35 years old in 2025, of the few that would still drive.
It's irrelevant for the current used car market.

Everything that needs an app or has "smart" functions just make things worse and way more expensive than they should be. Cars are the biggest offenders in this regard. All you need is a solid vehicle to get you from point a to point b. AC and sound system are nice luxuries. Having a fucking computer and everything be digital and non fixable by your own hands just makes cars way too expensive and jewed. Most cars are automatic transmission too. A new, manual transmission car without smartphone shit would be cheap and accessible to most people.

Another minor thing I've noticed is how most new cars nowadays come in either black, white or grey colors. It's all so soulless.

silver is up because china has restricted silver exports. Once the licensing situation is resolved in china, chinese sellers will dump their silver and make some money from these high prices. If you stacked silver for a long time and need to buy a new car or pay off some debt or buy a house, now would be a good time to sell your silver.

I take that as a compliment. The archetype of the jester (the real one, as it actually existed historically) was often more of a truth-teller than himself a joke. Jesters were those who told kings what no one else was brave enough to tell him, cloaked in humor. Now, I don't think I'm actually all that funny a guy (and I'm not under the impression that you and I are exactly sharing a laugh here) but... humor was just the social more of that time. It's not impossible to imagine an anger-jester or crying-jester who delivered truth in some other vehicle. That's the part I identify with, anyway.

In east Europe case, we have such a big surplus of second hand German cars it’s really cool, we drive old BMW and Mercedes for the price of a couple of grants.

Still, I am driving an old Toyota Highlander made in Japan, shipped from the USA, making Romanians seethe cuz it’s an American market only car.
I don’t know how I really got my hands on it, it’s really unusual. I am pretty sure there are only a dozen in all the country.

I have another Ford, pretty cool also.

BTW They keep fixing their shitty German cars until the cost is bigger than the car, while I am maintenance free for about 10 years now. Looking for a newer highlander, looks like I have to travel to the Dutch to get them.

lol. This will never happen.
The real problem is all the mandatory “safety” features. Backup cameras, lane monitoring systems, TPMS, pedestrian sensors, automatic braking systems, are all mandatory or will be by the end of the decade.
Now if you scrape your bumper you knock out 7 different sensors that all cost $100 to replace(plus labor). You used to be able to replace a whole bumper for $120 now it’s 5x that at least.
And the computer systems are constantly faulting in modern cars. Might as well lease a Tesla for cheap these days because all vehicles are becoming buggy smart phones on wheels.

Yes it is. Cars sold cheap are cheap for a reason. Someone didn't want to continue to dump money into it. They need constant maintenance which adds up and soon you've put 2x the value of the car into it in parts and labor because a piece of plastic is $1000 and any shop charges $200/hour in labor
>just do it yourself!!
Yes if you can but chances are you won't have the right tools or knowledge to work on a modern piece of plastic that needs 4000 computers to run proper.

Mechanicanon here. I work in Los Angeles, and the way it works is they hook up cheeeeeap ass good looking sweat equity to homes in exchange for cars. I run into cars all the time that are great, but they need like $4,000 worth of work. Well, a mechanic with his own shop can stay late and fix it slowly and then flip it, while at the same time have a new roof put on his house and sleep at the shop. You run into that everywhere here.

It’s the guy working at an office living paycheck to paycheck who can’t just hand over $5,000 AND take an Uber to work for a week. The Mexicans (and others) here pack into a truck and make a fortune repairing homes in Beverly Hills and can also hook up other things…if you know what I mean.
>>
>>524507720
Because people weren't buying them to last long, they were buying them as gap cars. You'd buy a shit car they would last you a year or two while you saved up enough money to buy a decent one. You have a complete misunderstand of how these cars were used.

This will never happen because it would actually benefit us. The need to have a human “driver” for liability purposes. They can’t fully control the vehicle cause communist Jews will sue the fucking shit out of them if they run over a pot hole too hard and it gives the passenger neck pain.
So instead you will get a neutered goybox cuckmobile that does 99% of the driving for you, but also requires you to pay attention to the road and take the blame if something unexpected happens because your eyes wandered for 43 milliseconds right before it plowed into that baby stroller.

Anon obd2 is the best thing that ever happened to the car market. I’m a mechanic, and obd1 cars were impossible to fix, that’s why they are essentially extinct. Pre obd (pre 1976) are indestructible and easy to maintain but when Cadillac introduced BLI (block learn integrator) it changed everything. There was no industry uniformity and each manufacturer did their own thing. It was a nightmare. Obd2 codified into law that all manufacturers use standardized nomenclature and processes. 1996 and after Obd2 cars will be on the road for the rest of our lives. Fuck Barry soetoro.

There are no more use cars.
Domestic cars last about 100/120k miles realistically. "But my 2010 Tahoe is still going strong and hauling, at a billion on the odo!" - Anecdotal, and probably dismisses how much over the maintaining costs was spent to maintain it that way.
The most modern cars can hardly be considered cars. The actual automobile technology is primitive and well-understood enough to now make the actual product take a backseat to exploitative pure profit features that you must subscribe to in order to use.
Those features won't work in 10 years. Can you even expect the manufacturer to support it after that? What about an analogue to my grandmother's 1987 Buick LeSabre that she kept until she died in the late 90s? That analogue for a new car is on that just rolls and gets Bluetooth radio and maybe a clock.
>GPS?
Pay-walled!
>Cruise control?
Pay-walled
>Half the fucking horsepower of this decade-old. duct-tapped together engine by this point?
Pay-walled
And that's if the screens still work to even access them. If you've ever driven a shitty old car, you know how it can be. Now imagine it 10 times worse, but with the car itself actively antagonizing you with every mile.
And this isn't even considering how impossible it is to get parts for new cars. Just watched a video about a 2013 Chevy Equinox, a shining example of enshittification of the auto industry, & you can't even get rod bushings for the engine. This is something so basic that should be readily available, but is only available with NEW rods from the factory, of which there are 2 existing. TWO! It's as if GM never foresaw that anyone would even attempt to rebuild this engine.
They don't expect these cars to last. They won't! They've fucked us over on a basic need in many parts of the country. A cheap reliable car is absolutely crucial to many low-income and young people. They need to be beaten in the streets for what they did to the auto industry.

what *really* killed the used car market. I'm older, been around the block a few times. When I was young, if you trusted your mechanical friends you could locate a cheap cr under a thousand buck that would run if you knew how to fix a few little things. would it be a chick magnet hell no. But A to B. I always had two beaters. If one died, I grabbed the other and then bought another to fix up. Easy peasy and cheap. When working good, I would have three or four beaters ready to drive. I called it the "Imperial Starfleet". Here's what happened in stages
1. things are as I describe in small towns
2. want ads became popular. you could now "market" your beater that runs to the city people. They have ore money and will pay ore for the same car. the 1000 dollar beater became a 2000 dollar used car.
3. internet. made #2 orders of magnitude worse.
back i the day, a collectible old thing might be "junk" because no one in the small town appreciated or "collected" it. Ebay? fuck. the few people that wanted it and would pay top dollar were suddenly right there. We call this progress. Cash for clunkers and shipping beaters off to third world countries, just helped this along.

-Clinton: let's get the CIA's lackey that helped them run guns and drugs as governor, then people will stop talking about the CIA running things. We can even meme that he balanced the budget!
-W: CIA really needs those Iran Contra funds and 911 is a great cover for it with multiple objectives achieved, now let's blow the fuck up out of the housing market

You're not even paying for a car any more, it's more like a limited-use subscription platform on wheels. The modern car is more like a fucking xbox or something and what cars used to be pre 2008.

>. It's been proven not to be true multiple times.

Anyone in the car sales business can tell you cash for clunkers is 100% responsible for destroying the second hand market

Even during normal times, the second hand market typically has less than 10k cars in running and driving condition of any given X model a decade later.

The cars that qualified for cash for clunkers were all fully registered, had local smog and road approve registrations. Actual junk didnt qualify for the program, ironically.

Go ahead and check, how many of the millions of Dodge Neons they built can you look for and buy at car dealerships, Ads etc? It's probably less than 500 cars in the whole country.

Now imagine 450 being turned into cash for clunkers.

The car is effectively extinct from a buyer perspective, even though "they made millions"
600k running and driving cars being removed from the roadways was a HUGE shift for the market.
>>
>>524511970
That happened 17 years ago. Are you sure the reason you don't own a car is just because you're unemployed and unemployable?
>>
notice how they abruptly stopped mass producing mini vans? how many people could a mini van hold?
how many does an suv hold?
how many children is the average american having now?
the minivan was the symbol of amish, mormon and white breeding, even if you didnt think so. it was a subliminal tool, and its removal from the market shifted us towards to a more individualist mindset, rather than the national lampoons family vacation mindset we had previously.

>600k running and driving cars being removed from the roadways was a HUGE shift for the market.
That's like 17 years ago. Be honest, is that really what's holding you back from going out and living a good life right now?

>>524500223
Cash for clunkers is about a transition to smart devices instead of cars.
New cars are terrible, require accounts, monthly subscriptions and have to use an ipad to control half of the features.
>>
>>524505621
This is cope. $1000 in yesterdays currency is $5000 in todays currency.
>>
>>524505222
>A new, manual transmission car without smartphone shit would be cheap and accessible to most people.
If the tv market is anything to go by then the new manual non smart device actually a car car would cost more because they arent lifting userdata to sell
>>
>>524513146
>That's like 17 years ago.

Yeah, and the market has yet to recover which once again highlights how effective of a blow it was to the system

A secondary factor is that many of the 1990s cars turned in would have naturally outlived the 2009 shitboxes people got for them

No one is willing buying a 09 Chrysler today

Whats this schizoid comment about my life? I'm happily retired 10+ years, faggot.
>>
>>524513265
>Who is this "they"?
In the context of that post, "they" would assumedly be the automobile manufacturer corporations, as "they" would be the only ones with the capability of starting or stopping production of some car models.

Are you dumb or just gay

This
I know my 2021 VW book value is probably $2-3k but I wouldn't sell it for less than 6 or 7 because I don't want a new POS with a car note and its annoying finding a quality car today thats at least 12 years old.
>>
>>524500911
Yep. Buying 10 year old cars in the early 2000s was peak. American quality got way better from the 70s and 80s and peaked somewhere in the 90s to 2010. Now stuff is all plastic and requires an engineering degree to work on. Car companies usually do one car ok as a loss leader and make money on trucks and mark ups on junk.

So its Obama's fault from from a promotional auto program from 17 years ago to stimulate Dubya's broken economy that you guys can't afford a car nowadays? Its not greedy dealerships and their insane markups? Its not that you have shitty credit and you're losers?
>>
>>524500223
Ruined the health insurance industry too. We used to pay under 100/month with a 1200 dollar deductible. Never again after king nigger helped line their pockets.

Remember when he shipped off military grade weaponry paid for by US taxdollars to mexican criminals while simultaneously attempting to ban US citizens from owning them?

>>524501267
Yeah. Back around 2015 you could find a good car with <100k miles or a lightly used grandpa Buick for sub-$2k.
COVID was far worse for the car market. Normies used to buy new cars all the time for some reason, even though they sucked and were way overpriced. Then the JIT global supply chain got fucked up by COVID and everyone realized that used cars were a better deal en masse. You had Cadillac dealers selling 2006 Kias with 300k miles as-is for $6k.
All the used car dealers started outbidding each other for absolute lemons at auction. Auctions used to be a good place to get a $500 car
>>
>>524500223
Who cares? If we had properly funded public transportation everywhere, no one would need to own a car. Let the government do what the government does best and leave the driving to the professionals.
>>
The program ended in 677,081 cars being destroyed. It was stupid and very communist like but you are exaggerating the impact it had. Blaming this program for high car prices is a deflection when in reality every car company is loading each car to the brim with unnecessary computer shit raising prices for the cars and costs for mechanics
>>
>>524500223
Blame boomers who donated their cars. The commercial said cars for kids, they thought they were going to kids

you ever see a nigger with a tesla regularly? in georgia... neither have i. but what i have seen like in columbus georgia are boomer niggers with a hyundai ioniq 6 or mercedes eqs electric vehicle when there were still tax credits that shady white boomer car salesman would pocket for theirselves instead of giving their "family" of niggers that so desperately needs the affection of wypipo, even a better "great" deal then the nigger got from his "white owner" since tesla wouldn't be that fucking shady to keep an ev tax credit for theirselves without telling their customers
>>
>>524502243
You forgot the worst, when they tell you that you have the "wrong work ethic" to get hired
>>
CVTs destroyed the used car market far worse than King Nigger did. When your Nissan CVT blows up after 130K miles and the replacement costs more than the car is worth, it removes the car from the used market.
The 50 million illegals also drive the prices up. We are a car centric country so when you import millions of illiterate poor shitskins who all need cars the price goes up.

In 1987 this was my first car. It was less than 10 years old and cost me $800. I banged my girlfriend a lot in this car. Then my mom borrowed it, left the keys in, and it was stolen by niggers. (Jerry Curl stain on the headrest.)

And gas was $1.19 / gallon.

We have this thread all the time. Midwits just like to blame something without looking into any of the details. 600k is miniscule compared to the number of cars on the road. Plus 90%+ of these cars would've ended up dead/in a junkyard within the last 15 years anyway.
>>
>>524500223
Is cash for clunkers still happening? Like, surely the used car market would have recovered by now. It's been a decade; a lot of new cars have now aged to the end of their lives.
>>
>>524500223
Right before cash for clunkers happened I bought a 97 chrysler concorde which was 10 years old at the time for 500 bucks. 350k miles, drove it for a couple of years with minimum maintenance until the oil pump failed one day without warning. That was the only land yacht I got to own.
