>>524508878wholesomeEvery military worth a shit has donkeys. They're infantry's best friend for patrols through terrain where vehicles cannot go and air resupply is limited/impossible. They're better than jeeps, they eat grass, they carry stuff, they don't like to wander off too much because they're not used to being alone/without people. Thing is there's not much need for regular units to be trained with donkeys, regular units are very conventional and get very conventional missions. Generally if you're seeing donkeys they belong to an unconventional elite unit that is specifically trained to do long range reconnaissance patrol type work and special operations where they're inserting way behind enemy lines.It isn't to say they couldn't be used by conventional troops to help with conventional work though. I think every infantry unit should have donkeys. Every platoon should have one, and they should all carry the rank of Captain.
