>>524514028Depends on why the person is barely getting by, most people lack the willpower to sustain themselves for their own sake beyond minimalism and need to have greater purpose to strive. A relationship and children used to be that driving force for people, like maybe they thought they didn't need to put the effort into getting credentials because they could live comfortably without it. However having someone depend on them made them get that credential or accreditation, there's more happening here than just laziness, not everyone can be an elitist even if they do strive for it.
