The last time I bought a new video game at launch was Red dead redemption 2 PS4 pro bundle and I didn't even enjoy it as much as RDR1. The multiplayer was dead to me from the start since it had microtransactions and no trains and banks for me and my friends to rob. I am almost 30 now and maybe it is age too but video games just don't really interest me at all like they used to. Playing retro stuff like N64 is just depressing to me now especially when I used to have family and friends to play it when I was a kid. Honestly the last time I felt pure joy around video games is when I walked in to a Freeplay bar arcade and it genuinely made me feel like a kid again seeing the hundreds of 80s/90s games with working CRTs and hearing all the beeps and boops just put the biggest smile on my face.

Some of the best games you can get are either legacy titles or made by indie developers and those don't require great specs. The e-sports titles are optimized well and can be run decently even on 5 year old gaming computers. Microsoft fucked everyone with the Windows 11 launch, most people are moving to Windows 7 or Linux when it comes to gamers who got pushed out during the switch because of some arbitrary CPU or TPM chip bullshit for the sake of AI and data harvesting. PC building was starting to get super popular again due to the accessibility of affordable parts that could still run good stuff at 1080p. That all crashed with the proliferation of AI data centers eating up the supply chain for those exact parts... even now the belief is still that PC building is un affordable. This is good neither for the people who actually do the research and build on their own nor is it good for the prebuilt companies. Consoles are fucked because the only affordable market for them is in resale. Their prices cannot keep up with PC prices and all of this hardware shortage shit is hitting them too, which they are just gonna pass on to the customer. The big 3 console companies keep fucking people anyways, raising prices, removing shit, and following anti consumer practices over and over again. Well well well, what did we expect to happen? We didn't do any market research. He wanted to make a very specific game, basically a vanity project for him, and that was it.The tight development schedule was because he was coked out and significantly oversold how fast our team could work to our publisher. We partnered with tech that wasn't appropriate for our game at all, but our leader insisted we made use of it for one specific feature - which came with a bunch of caveats and people hardly used when we launched lol.What should have been a 3 year cycle was condensed to 2, which as you know is not really 2 years but rather 16 months and then you start showing the "completed" game off to the press and at events and stuff.The guy also called me high as shit while I was with my girlfriend at the time, and there are text messages between us where I'm apologizing for how fucked up he is.The game came out and ruined the reputation of basically anyone who had a hand in it.
