Why is it that in 3rd world countries, there's people that erk out an existence selling fruit, while in the US, there's a high number of degreed professionals that can't afford to go to the dentist despite being the "richest country in the world"??One of the things I realized being with my Peruvian girlfriend and observing is that the average Peruvian isn't really that much worse off materially than the average American, despite their incomes being 10x lower. I see people in Comas and Los Olivos walking around with iPhones.
