No it also increased the amount of land each farmer had allowing only the productive fields to be farmed so that 1 productive farmer could feed artisans, instead of having a Malthusian crunch where everyone is barely scrimping by on there six shity acres. The oldest brother was successful enough to buy metal work from his little brother who didn't inherit the farm instead of subdividing the shitty land to scrape by.
