For example I couldn't understand a basic proof by induction when it was shown to me in lecture so I went over every book I could download and tried all the examples until I could prove them all myself. By next lecture I had caught myself up but kids today won't even bother they will just be quietly passed to the next course because 60% of every grade now is some kind of bullshit participation points.
