I was thinking about another thing that boomers had that we didn't. Let's say that your parents worked at a grocery store. Back then, stores were much smaller and had way less foot traffic. If you were stocking shelves, you were stocking less items. If you were cashier, you were tending to less customers. Due to the stores being smaller in less populated areas, you could actually get acquainted with regular customers. Whereas, nowadays there are thousands of people who visit any particular supermarket and you can't possibly get to know them.
