Why is New Year's Day a national holiday? Are we supposed to be looking back on the previous year or looking forward for what's to come? Every other holiday is much more straight forward.

Labor became sacred—workers united across borders, winning living wages, protections for gig workers, and a seat at every decision-making table. We proved that collective courage can shift power. These victories didn’t come from leaders alone—they came from us: the marches, the strikes, the voices that refused to be silenced. This year, we reclaimed dignity for millions, and it’s only the beginning.
