it's true

"Listen, I'm going to tell you something most people don't want to hear," O'Leary said in a December YouTube video titled "If You Want To Get Rich, Stop Buying These 5 Things." "You're broke. Not because you don't make enough money, not because the economy is rigged against you, not because you didn't get lucky. You're broke because you keep buying stupid things that are keeping you poor."

"Buying a new car is one of the dumbest financial decisions you can make," O'Leary said. A car drops 20% to 30% in value the second you drive it off the lot, he explained, turning thousands of dollars into dust—for nothing but "that new car smell." And leasing? "Leasing is the absolute worst," he said. "You're renting a depreciating asset… You gave the dealership thousands of dollars for the privilege of borrowing their car."

The average American spends nearly $4,000 a year eating out, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. O'Leary runs the math: investing that same $3,500 annually for 30 years at 10% could become more than $600,000. "You're trading half a million dollars in retirement wealth for convenience and fancy meals you'll forget about in 24 hours," he said.

Oh so you're saying I can just say I'm a Jew therefore give me an interest-free loan and I can invest it pretty much anywhere and get free money?
I didn't know that. Let me just hit the print button and make a couple trillion to loan out to people like me at practically 0.0001% interest, and if they make mistake, simply add an additional 0 before the one to cover the loses.
To prove what a genius elite that I am, of course.

I feel like the actual rich guys put this retard in a suit because his punchable mug is so great for rage baiting.

He spoke in a fucking business class at Harvard one time and basically spent the entire lecture telling the students they aren't shit and aren't going to do shit with their lives. Fantastic. I'm sure everyone there was glad to have attended that one, instead of studying for their exams.

>The average American spends nearly $4,000 a year eating out

really? are there wealthy people who are eating out constantly and purchasing very expensive meals to pull this average up? or are they also factoring in going to the food store as eating out? o'leary is a faggot though he his partially correct with this advice but i have a hard time believing the average american spends 4k dining out each year.

>>
>>524674828
being financially savvy sort of requires you to be locked into saving every penny albeit, unless you have a well paying career then you wont really have any disposable income

that said there's only been a short period in the span of history where society has been structured the way it is now combined with the technology, so banking on the status quo continuing for the next 30 years seems really arrogant

I'm really glad you chucklefucks are stuck on this shit site instead of running the country.
Proper nutrition is arguably the single best thing you can invest in. I'll never forget actually working with this poor computer nerd through a temp agency. They sent this string bean from Georgia over to move furniture for me, and this kid just had a fucking jar of peanut butter and a loaf of multigrain for lunch. Nothing on his forearms, nothing on his legs, and we had to use a shoulder dolly for every lift, and he couldn't do something like pick a desk up to put it on its feet. It had to be rolled onto its feet after assembly. I was basically on my own for stairs with turns, and everything had to be slowed down egregiously.

He flat out wasn't eating protein. I guess he worked at a pork plant nearby and saw someone drop a chop on the floor and pick it up to throw back on the line. That's gross, and it costs money, but holy fucking shit if there's one piece of advice I can give any man it's to eat some fucking meat, especially if you're going to be doing real work.
>>
>>524674828

There's nothing wrong with investing if you know what you're doing... problem is most people don't know what they're doing and treat the stock market like a get-rich-quick scheme instead of looking at the long-term. But it all boils down to understanding finances... most Americans understand nothing about finances which is why they are broke.

that bodybuilding kid that's always posted here only eats peanut better sandwiches
so bread and peanut butter
and lots of steroids
and there is loads of protein in peanut butter. you literally need to sit down and plan out a diet that has no protein in it in order to have a protein deficient diet. protein does not give you energy at all. it is used to build and repair. protein is literally the least important thing you need to worry about when it comes to nutrition. you only need about 5% of your calories to come from protein, and if you ate white rice alone you would have more than enough.
have you heard of rabbit starvation? this is when there is plenty of lean protein to eat, but no carbs or fats. this very quickly leads to death.

check
and why is that? because the powers that be want things this way
mandatory schooling was devised as a way to break people's minds so that they would be ok with working monotonous factory jobs where they had no creative input. ford, for instance, had a terrible time keeping employees, even in the great depression and with super high wages. this is because people hated putting in one component of a car over and over on the assembly line.
i get frustrated too, but i try to remember that i was like that too with money, because my parents were shit with money and always stole mine. i had an easy come easy go viewpoint that persisted long past the initial stimulus. which is a fancy way of saying i pissed away almost every dollar i ever earned.
handling money is a skill, not an intelligence issue as many might think. there are tons of thirdies (but not filipinos) that are great with money, i've met them. unless they're on gibs they are usually thrifty and sensible people. there are manifold think tanks and such organizations that spend all day every day figuring out ways of making you more insecure, more needy, more hollow and dissatisfied with your life that you fill it with expensive food, travel, clothes, funko pops and labubus.
you can look for john taylor gatto on youtube, a teacher who had done an amazing job researching the origins of modern schooling. it was set up by wealthy industrialists to destroy the minds of the working class. it was based on the prussian system. classes were broken up and divided by bells so that they would be used to picking things up and dropping them on command. this precluded long periods of contemplation and thought. if the working class were learning pic related, then they would pose a threat to the ones at the top.
so they get loyal slaves and consumers. we get to go to work again.

but what that kid was eating was a deconstructed peanut butter sandwich. if he had a pb sandwich, he never would have posted this. it is only "bad food" because it was in the pre-assembly stage.
it was just someone unused to manual labour is all. put someone on the carnivore diet and make them sit around all day. will they look like rich piana? and he ate nothing but chicken breast, powder and drugs

his purpose seems to be to get people mad at anyone but the people causing the problems.
he knows the economy is fucked but the economy is sort of like magic and we all have to believe. once enough people don't believe anymore, the whole thing falls apart and there goes all of his holdings.

>O'Leary
>O'Leary's mother was a skilled investor, investing a third of her weekly paycheque in large-cap, dividend-paying stocks and interest-bearing bonds, ultimately achieving high returns in her investment portfolio. She kept her investment portfolio secret, so O'Leary only discovered his mother's skill as an investor after her death when her will was executed.[25] Many of his investment lessons came from his mother, including the admonition to save one-third of his money.

from the invention of capitalism by michael perelman
https://files.libcom.org/files/2022-05/The%20Invention%20of%20Capitalism.pdf
people were systematically forced out of lifestyles where they could be self sufficient, as the factory owners needed workers. nobody wanted to work all those hours for things they could have gotten much more easily themselves.
all in all a very violent process. this was the industrial revolution in a nutshell, only the people at the top got any benefit from the increased output, while everyone else ended up miles worse off

You are absolutely correct, public schooling is awful and it exists solely to create a perpetual class of underclass slaves. With that being said there should be a level of personal responsibility especially in the age of unlimited free information. Public school might not teach you about financial literacy or self-sufficiency but there is an infinitesimal amount of useful information that people can utilize and obtain right now. The reason why you see a lot of third-worlders that are good with finances is because their families community hold them accountable, the same cannot be said of modern American culture. Our culture hates accountability, and prioritizes short-term gratification... which has led us to this country's current predicament.

we have communities?
why look up information on thrift if your value system is skewed towards conspicuous consumption? that's the trick, like 1984, to get you to a place where even conceiving of rebellion is a null issue. this is also why you have a nation of gun owners that didn't do shit in 2020. they simultaneously hold "government bad" and "back the blue" and "ra ra military" thoughts in their minds, despite those being the very people they would face in their insurgency fantasies.
i have a pet idea that most people would be good with money if they didn't get their minds broken by school and the media.

There are other things you can invest in... commodities, land, etc. As for stock market investing I've personally seen people have successful investments in the stock market, and others who have lost more than 40,000. It boils down to your level of knowledge and risk mitigation.
