Environmental remediation contractor here and I’m calling a complete bullshit coverup on this story. I clean everything, especially everything in hospitals and chemical factories. I contracted a job with a local flagship hospital that had Candida Auris on 2 seperate floors. My final clean report got people fired from both nurse staff, and administration. First thing a hospital does is immediately try to remove blame from the hospital. The infection preventionist onsite had already “diagnosed” the causation to be materials brought into the hospital via supply shipments. The infected floors were ICU and long term care, in other words rooms with beds. It took us two weeks to clean 12,000sqft of hospital space. When my crews were going through and documenting the cleaning, I didn’t see any signs of major growth or debris present in any of the rooms. We even inspected over 2,000ft of linear hvac duct work to see if it was delivered via airstream. Nothing. Then I discovered it during a random bed check. On the bottom side of the mattress, there was crusted staining and fungal growth from a dead patient. It had been sitting there for months with staff not looking once. We checked the rest of the 60+ beds on the floors. 80% looked the exact same. The hospital administration had been tape sealing up the damaged beds and flipping them over to save on procurement cost. I submitted my report and the wrong people saw it and cleaned house. I believe OPs supporting details in his picrel are bullshit.
