Question for Police Officers and Americans in general. Why does Law Enforcement always gravitate towards the German Shepherd as the prime option for police? Don’t other dog breeds have other traits that could help track down a victim or suspect? Blood Hounds and Basset Hounds have THE best scent detection of all other dog breeds. Other dogs have faster speed and stamina. There are other dog breeds such as a the Cane Corso or XL Bully who would are absolutely exceptional at security related affairs. I know German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois are great but why not introduce other formidable breeds into the mix?? The German Shepherd doesn’t do everything other dog breeds do.

All I know is that mine can track scents in the woods, flushes and retrieves birds, swims out for ducks, barks to alert us to visitors, chases off coyotes, and nearly bit the arm off a rando who "drove down the wrong driveway" mid-day.
