Maduro declares a state of emergency and calls for mobilization, according to Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Russia’s war has opened Pandora’s box. Conflicts are now waged through military means.

A struggle for control over Venezuelan oil is underway.

Will strikes on Venezuela affect Russia’s shadow fleet? Undoubtedly. "Venezuelan oil" plays a major role for the so-called shadow fleet. At one point, Rosneft (Sechin) invested large sums in Venezuela’s oil sector. In fact, the shadow transfer of part of the oil industry to the Russians was the price paid for preserving Maduro’s regime.

Today, Russians mix Russian oil with Venezuelan oil, which is also sold through the shadow fleet, and market it as oil from third countries.

If Trump succeeds in a rapid change of the Maduro regime, it will not stop but will complicate the operations of Russia’s shadow fleet.

Everyone also remembers, after the defeats in Syria and Iran, that Russia does not really help its "partners." The only thing it can offer is asylum for those fleeing.

Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement regarding Venezuela.

There is "deep concern and condemnation", "solidarity with the Venezuelan people" and that's all the support Russia is prepared to provide.

Full statement below:

"This morning, the United States carried out an act of armed aggression against Venezuela. This causes deep concern and condemnation.

The pretexts cited to justify such actions are unfounded. Ideologized hostility has prevailed over practical pragmatism and over a willingness to build relations based on trust and predictability.

In the current situation, it is crucial above all to prevent further escalation and to focus on finding a way out through dialogue. We proceed from the understanding that all parties who may have claims against one another should seek solutions through dialogue-based approaches. We are ready to support them in this.

Latin America must remain a zone of peace, as it declared itself in 2014. Venezuela must be guaranteed the right to determine its own destiny without any destructive, especially military, interference from outside.

We reaffirm our solidarity with the Venezuelan people and our support for the course of its Bolivarian leadership aimed at defending the country’s national interests and sovereignty.

We support the statements by the Venezuelan authorities and the leadership of Latin American countries calling for the urgent convening of a meeting of the UN Security Council.

The Russian Embassy in Caracas is operating as normal, taking the situation into account, and maintains constant contact with Venezuelan authorities and Russian citizens currently in Venezuela. At present, there is no information about any Russian citizens being injured".

President Erdogan:

The war between Russia and Ukraine is about to enter its fifth year. Hundreds of thousands have died, cities have been destroyed, and millions have been forced to leave their homes. In recent months, the war has reached a point where it threatens trade and navigation safety in the Black Sea.

We are making the necessary contacts to prevent this. It is our sincere hope that this war, which risks spiraling out of control with reciprocal attacks, will end as soon as possible with a just and sustainable peace.

On behalf of the entire U.S. DOJ, I would like to thank President Trump for having the courage to demand accountability on behalf of the American people, and a huge thank you to our brave military who conducted the incredible and highly successful mission to capture these two alleged international narco traffickers.

Russian "Z-bloggers" are very worried about Venezuela and oil prices:

"This is not f***ing funny, you underdeveloped idiots. Soon it won’t even be profitable for us to extract oil. In a couple of months we’ll starve to death. This is checkmate for the entire economy of the underdeveloped traitor Putin. May he die, a real bastard. A talentless, stinking piece of f***ot trash. This is a nightmare for us. They will drop the price of oil below the floor and take over the entire market. Now, on top of everything else, they’ll also have oil. This is a total f***ing disaster. And we’ll be left without internet, drowning in taxes, hugging our f***ing oil. The political leadership of our country needs to be killed. They are inherently insane. And they are traitors. They should be hanged. The Americans have just extended their existence for several more centuries, while ours will end in a month."

03 January 2026 – Update: The rumors about “Dangerous Sky” and what may actually be behind them

Over the past few days, an increasing number of rumors have circulated about an alleged upcoming Ukrainian large-scale operation called “Dangerous Sky.”
I personally heard the name for the first time about a week before New Year’s Eve.
My initial reaction was to dismiss it as just another rumor from social media platforms, blogs, or video channels without a clear sourcE, something that is extremely common during wartime.

During active conflicts, speculative or outright false “operation names” are often spread to generate attention, psychological impact, or simple clickbait.
This type of information rarely originates from official military sources, but rather from anonymous accounts, engagement-driven content, or deliberate disinformation.

Ukrainian military operations are normally designated by internal codenames that are not made public in advance.
When names do become known, it is usually after the fact, through official summaries from the Ministry of Defense or confirmed allied sources.
At present, there is no broadly recognized operation called “Dangerous Sky” in open OSINT reporting.
The latest verifiable information instead concerns ongoing and planned operations along the Donbas front and in the southern sectors.

Over time, several fellow bloggers contacted me by email asking for my assessment.
When the same question arises repeatedly from different directions, it becomes reasonable to at least analyze what might be behind it.
What follows are therefore my own conclusions and speculations...

President Trump on Venezuela:

The team did an incredible job. They rehearsed and practiced like nobody's ever seen, and I was told, and I was told by real military people, that there's no other country on earth that could do such a maneuver.

I watched it literally like I was watching a television show, and if you would have seen the speed, the violence, you know, they say that, the speed, the violence, they use that term.

It was an amazing job that these people did. There's nobody else could have done anything like it.

>1. What could “Dangerous Sky” actually refer to?
In my assessment, there is only one realistic possibility: the Flamingo missiles.
At present, I estimate that Ukraine has between 240 and 500 Flamingo missiles in stock.
This suggests a production rate somewhere between two and six missiles per day.

>2. Why haven’t they been used on a larger scale earlier?
The answer became clearer during Fire Points’ press conference yesterday.
Ukraine currently lacks reliable topographic maps of Russia, data that the Flamingo missiles require to be used effectively and with maximum precision.

There is no open, verified OSINT or official military information indicating that Ukraine currently has access to
detailed Russian military-grade topographic maps that are not publicly available AND elevation data with the precision required for effective TERCOM navigation during low-altitude flight

This type of data is normally classified and not publicly accessible.
The lack of it has also been identified as a concrete operational limitation for the use of Flamingo missiles in certain areas.

>3. What have the intelligence services been doing in the meantime?
Here there are strong indications of intensive activity.
Reports suggest that ATESH, the resistance movement operating in occupied territory and inside Russia, has succeeded in obtaining military topographic maps that were forwarded to HUR.
At the same time, the terrain around strategically important targets is said to have been mapped over a long period using drones.
There are also clear indications that Western intelligence services have contributed to this mapping effort.

According to open sources, Venezuela used to have a very powerful air defense system. A lot of its elements were Russian, and there are reports that Putin sent Maduro some additional systems in recent months.

- Over 20 Su-30;
- 2 S-300 and 2 Buk systems, and missiles for them;
- About a dozen Tor-M1 systems.

Venezuela also had several F-16s; radiolocation systems, including Chinese ones; artillery, including Swedish ones.

Then, Venezuela was also in possession of several hundred MANPADS - they are very mobile, don't need radars and they cannot be destroyed all at once with an aviation strike, which would have made them perfect for the job of responding to the US strikes.

However, looking at the footage of the US combat helicopters in Venezuela's airspace and their ability to perform a super-quick operation (according to sources, the whole operation lasted up to 30 minutes), Venezuela's air defense was either disabled by the US or Venezuelan military had no means/desire to use it.

It is quite possible that Venezuela's military leadership had no desire to fight and die for Maduro, so they made a conscious decision to allow the US to carry out the operation without any resistance on their part.

>4. The explosive increase in Russian reconnaissance drones
The sharp increase in Russian reconnaissance and spy drones over Ukraine is itself a telling sign.
Russia appears to be aware of the threat posed by a potential “Dangerous Sky” operation.
One of the main purposes of this increased activity is likely an attempt to locate where the Flamingo missiles are deployed.

>5. What can we expect going forward?
Everything points toward Ukraine delivering a powerful strike within a relatively short timeframe.
Exactly when, where, and how remains concealed, and will likely stay that way until the operation has already been carried out.

Finally, I want to highlight how parts of the Ukrainian media have recently shifted into an unnecessarily gloomy tone.
For some time now, warnings about massive Russian missile attacks have been frequent, often citing official sources.
I find this difficult to understand.

We already know that Russian missile production today is only a fraction of what it once was.
Two days ago, I posted a note on Facebook about official warnings that Russia would conduct a massive missile attack on the night of December 31, 2025, or January 1-2, 2026.
I wrote that I doubted this, and I was correct.

My assessment instead is that a somewhat larger attack may occur around January 15–20, primarily involving cruise missiles.
Anyone who has followed Russian attack patterns in 2025, along with Ukraine’s systematic strikes against Russian strategic military industry, can fairly easily connect the dots.

President Trump on what might be next for Venezuela:

We can't take a chance on letting somebody else run and just take over where he left or left off. So we're making that decision now.
We'll be involved in it very much. And we want to do liberty for the people. We want to have a great relationship.
I think the people of Venezuela are very, very happy because they love the United States. They were run by essentially a dictatorship or worse. It couldn't have been worse.
It was a terrible thing that was taking place in Venezuela. But look, tremendous numbers of people were being killed through drugs. And what they did to our country in sending prisoners and people from mental institutions and drug lords and everything, they sent them by the hundreds of thousands of people into our country.
And that is just unforgivable.

Oleg Deripaska, Russian billionaire: if the US gains control over Venezuela's oil production, the Russian budget will face problems.

"If our American ‘partners’ get their hands on Venezuela’s oil fields (and they have already reached those in Guyana), more than half of the world’s oil reserves will end up under their control," Deripaska wrote.

According to Deripaska, the United States plans to "make sure" that the price of Russian oil "does not rise above $50 per barrel," and such a scenario threatens Russia’s current economic model.

"This means that our so-called sacred state capitalism will find it difficult to keep everything as it is: not cutting costs, not getting rid of non-core assets, and continuing to pursue grand projects without the necessary expertise and without the involvement of private business," Deripaska noted.

Deripaska added that it will also become "harder for the Russian authorities to put pressure on private business," which "starting this year is becoming the main taxpayer to the federal budget."

Let me remind you that in October 2025, the Russian State Duma ratified a strategic partnership agreement with Venezuela. The document was signed on May 7, 2025, following negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Venezuela, Vladimir Putin and Nicolás Maduro, in Moscow.

The document stated that it was aimed at "building a multipolar world, enabling Venezuela to develop as a sovereign state, and allowing the people of Venezuela to plan their own future." Volodin declared that a multipolar world is already a reality. Therefore, the ratification of the agreement was presented as concrete steps toward peace, development, and stability not only for Venezuela, but for Latin America as a whole.

Once again, it is evident that the Kremlin has no real influence, does not want to and cannot help its so-called "allies," and instead demonstrates powerlessness and international insignificance.

Maduro believed in "help from Moscow" until the very last moment, but was overthrown in just 30 minutes.

Firing high payload missiles isn't carpet bombing, it's firing high payload missiles. And they are crazy expensive, complicated and slow to build, plus using them with conventional warheads is wasting their capabilities, plus, kacaps would be directly tearing up their "ook ook nook" card because they would geet rid of the means of transportation for nuclear weapons. And if they actually go full retard and nuke, Russia turns into nuclear wasteland just to make a point why there is nuclear taboo in the first place.

it's their only option. PDVSA used to have a refinery in curacao but they neglected it to death with unpaid bills.
it's actually amazing how badly the chavismos fucked the venezuelan oil industry. they couldn't have ruined it more thoroughly if they actually intended to. but what else would you expect when they fired/purged anyone who actually knew what the fuck about oil from PVDSA and hired illiterate loyalist retards for all the positions top to bottom then headed it with a "general" of the state militia.

Has Ukraine achieved some sort of SEAD in the Moscow region then? Very impressive if so.
If I were to throw my hat in and offer a bullshit opinion, it's plausible that Ukraine would probe the area with drone strikes first before letting the flamingoes fly to test viability and success of remaining and hastily repaired hodge podge air defence systems. So drones come first then the drone + cruise missile package combo comes later.

The same happened after US-sponsored terrorists overthrew Bashar al-Assad, or at least that's what I was being told would happen.
