>All personal feelings aside politically, this was a masterclass strategic move by President Trump

What Trump just did in Venezuela amounts to this : He just took China's collateral, which means those loans are worthless because let's face it, Venezuela is not going to pay them back. And China knew that when they extended the loans, that's what China does. It extends loans to these countries (they're doing it in Nigeria too) that they know that they can't pay back, intending to either take the oil as the collateral or some other form of collateral. Usually, it's facilities like a railroad or a dam or some kind of mine. So, what Trump said is "okay, I see your belt and road initiative, and I'm going to take the initiative and stake the collateral right off the board, which makes that loan and their entire effort in Venezuela worthless". Again, it's it's a piece on the chessboard and it's pretty damn big one. Well fucking played

P.S: only CCP shills and commie troon libtards seethe at this

But the regime was left in power though? There is no denying that it was militarily a very good operation but strategically I'm not so sure about it
>>
>>525412757
They are the new puppets. Last night, the president said they would do exactly what Trump said: deliver oil to the US, fix the power grid, etc. The same speech, only seasoned with socialist slogans.

They're doing what we say since we're essentially holding the country hostage. Soon we will force them to hold elections that a third party will monitor and hopefully they will elect someone that won't be a sadistic corrupt piece of shit.

It was a desperate move
The reality is that the US is running out of supplies of cheap oil and gas
That means domestic price increases
That is the one thing that will get any politician sacked, the US is still by a fair bit the biggest user in the world
Venezuela crude gets mixed with higher grade US and refined on the Gulf coast keeping price down
It's unsustainable though and hasn't been thought through, if the domestic price for Venezuelans goes up it will literally mean civil war, its massively subsidized which will have to end to ensure the oil companies brought in make profit on what will have to be huge investment
Its going to be a shitshow from start to finish that will mean that the US are going to have to put in huge amounts of security for anything to be possible and the whole thing can collapse overnight, the big companies wont want that risk
>>
>>525417167
Why do so many latam countries hate Venezuelans ?
>>
>>525417818
Most educated Venezuelans left a long time ago, Chavismo is on its way to 3 decades in Venezuela and the “éducation” system focus on turning people into loyal goverment thugs, so at this point people leaving includes plenty of common criminals for whom it’s easier to arrive at other latam countries.

Pinochet amd the CiA fixed your country to the point people wanted to move there.
Now Rubio and the CIA will fix ours and the story will repeat again. Time is a flat circle

>pay venezuela for the oil
from what trump said, we are going to be paid in american products, so its more like a trade without imports
its communist free... trade... deal? No one understands here whats going on
In any case if I can only get American products I want a Tesla with my share of the oil revenew thank you very much. Those are made in america, right?

>the regime was left in power though?
this forces China and Russia to continue to support them so they cant back insurgencies. it is also honoring venezuelan sovereignty. the US is not forcing a government on them. they have to follow their own laws and elect a legitimate government. but the same threat of force and naval blockade applies to whoever they elect, so the US is going to get what it wants no matter what.

Part of the deal is Delcy staying in power. Not sure for how long but we're doing a cartel lite thing with her and her brother. Regardless it will be better with the US than it was with China.

Rubio said it would take a while. I dont have high hopes for elections any time soon but a dictator under USA leash is considerably better than they doing whatever they fuck they want
Not the best scenario, but better than what we had.
>>
>>525412757
The fallacy here is assuming a "regime" is a cohesive ideological monolith rather than a bunch of petty dictator wannabes with a big dictator holding on to power to cover his ass. Maduro getting removed but letting his "regime" handlers stay in power sends a few messages.
1. Step out of line and we can do the same to you.
2. We're letting you keep most of your cushy stuff to give you a reason to work with us.
If the ultimatum is that all of Maduro's cabinet was to be removed, there would be no incentive for these people to not dig their heels in and fight to the bitter end, which I would think would turn into a long, bloody and tiresome quagmire of foreign intervention.
