This reminds me of the D&D story about a group of kobold traders who dressed up as human nobles and spoke upper class Common because they thought that it made them seem more trustworthy and relatable since kobolds are notorious scammers and thieves, but nobody could get past the fact that they were still a bunch of puny fucking lizards wearing shitty miniature noble costumes and speaking broken Common with a heavy Draconic yapping accent, and that they still smelled like wet dog shit.
